Default I hope VZW read this

I don't ask for much in a phone, but VZW seems to be of a completely different mindset from myself. A short list of features I'd like to see in a single phone:

+ Good reception
- Nokia, preferably
+ Bar
- I didn't like the flip as much as I thought I would
+ Long battery life
- The poor signal at work and home can really drain a battery
- Another good reason for Nokia
+ Vibrate, then ring
- Gives you a change to answer the phone before the ringer annoys anyone else
- I had this on my Kyo2235, but have not seen it on any other brand
+ Increasing ringer volume
- Starts quiet and gets louder
- Great when coupled with the previously listed feature
- Another feature from the Kyo2235 I really liked
+ Camera
- 1+ MP, preferably
Other features I'd like to have are custom ringers and graphics, usb/bt data capable, and full-duplex speakerphone.

Is this too much to ask? Does anyone else feel the frustration?

I think an authorized retailer around here still has the Nokia 6015i, but it's rather outdated and lacking in several features I would like.

I don't think that is too much to ask for. Hopefully Verizon will start releasing phones with better features.

That is another reason that I have Cingular and my Razr.

I agree, except that just about every frigging phone available has a camera on it, and I am not allowed to have a camera phone at work.

For VZW:

1) more bar phones
2) non-camera options

Zaphod, what would happen if you did have a camera phone at work? Would you get fired?

I work in a secure facility; cell phones in general weren't allowed in until a couple of years ago (we had to leave them in our cars, which we parked outside before entering the secure area), and they're still not allowed in several places. Cameras, voice recorders, &c. are still absolutely forbidden.

the moto v260 has vib&ring on it, and it rings for like 5 seconds or so before it starts ringing,, if that helps you with anything.. lol, because vzw doesn't have that many 'bar' phones or anything else.

A friend of mine works for Honnywell. They produced military parts and camera phones are a no no. If you work for the Department of Defense, ditto. So to make the story short, she has an ugly phone without a cam. She said finding one is difficulty for Tmobile.

Yeah most of our phones have cameras LOL. We have like 3 phones that don't have a camera. The Samsungs x475, x495 and the Motorola v188.

Sounds good to me. Something like the 6230i really, but it won't ever be on Verizon. Most phones have vibrate then ring. I personally HATE IT! I want it to ring and vibrate at the same time (like Nokia) so both remind me. I don't see why they can't include both varients of vibration though. Samsung, Motorola, and Kyocera all have vibrate THEN ring as far as I know.

I think this question should be sent to a manufacture like Nokia or Motorola to build a phone for Verizon.

But would VZW want to offer the phone(s) to its customers? I don't Motorola or Nokia are the problem.

What about cell phones that have voice memo capabilities? That could be used as a voice recorder...

I know phonescoop does not have all the phones but look at what is offered for http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/finder_results.php?m=e&ter=r&te_3=y&ffr=r&ff_0=y&f 7r=r]GSM bar

The GSM bars look so much better and it seems like Nokia and Kyocera are about the only ones the do CDMA bar phones these days.

My mom does not like claimshell any wants to have only bar phones, so I know there people out there. I still have my old timeport that I still use.

Youre actually lucky they allow them at all. I worked in a secure facility, and like you mentioned, they wouldnt allow us to have phones at all on us. Not only because of the camera function, but because a lot of phones now have a voice memo feature, and if you deal with people who talk about sensitive stuff (such as meetings and what not) then they really dont like it.

I personally hate camera phones. Id like to see a good phone without a Camera, and with speakerphone. I was really reluctant to get the 8000 a couple months ago.

Ive never had a problem at all with reception on the 8000, and if Im in a movie or something, I just put it on vibrate, or silent. I used to have the increasing ringtone on an old phone, but I didnt like it, cause sometimes I wouldnt hear it till it was about to hang up.

I would def like to see more nokias in their lineup too. My first phone was a nokia, and I beat the ever living crap out of it, the antenna snapped off, the screen was shattered, the battery was held in with duct tape, and I had no problems at all with reception or receiving calls. This was also before I had insurance, and I was kinda stuck with it. But you could literally run it over with a car and it will still work.

I wouldnt do that with any of todays phones, cept maybe the 4000, but thats kinda outdated now.

Suffice it to say that no outside electronic equipment of any kind is allowed in certain areas and that actually USING the cell phone will garner you a lot more attention than you probably want to have.

I have the 4500. Yes, it has a voice recorder on it but the memory is dinky. Since Verizon is the only phone that works in the building anyway, pretty much everyone I know has a 4500.

I will be transferring to a non-secure facility at some point in the next six months and will probably get a more up-to-date phone then. (I still don't want a camera, but I'd like Bluetooth and I'm aware that there simply aren't BT phones without cameras.)
