Howdy there. This is my 1st post. I've tried to do a search throughout this forum, but couldn't find a straight answer to my specific question. If it's been discussed before, I'm sorry. In fact, I can't find the straight answer anywhere on the entire internet. Here's my specific question: WILL MOTOROLA PHONE TOOLS WORK WITH A US CELLULAR V3M PHONE? I'm not a hacker, by the way. I just want to use my own custom ringtones. Thanks in advance, -vid- |

I've uploaded a few songs onto my v3m (uscc) that i got yesterday using MPT, I am having some problems with it though and am still trying to figure out the program. But YES, They are in my sounds folder with all of the factory BS that i would like to get arid of. Going under options while playing the song gives me the option of setting is as a ringtone. |

| Banned | The answer is yes but sometimes there are problems with connecting a phone to this. You need to make sure you have the motorola USB drivers in stalled on your comp. This will enable your computer to read your phone. From that you would be able to get into MPT. If this does not work then you will need to step up to either P2K commander or BITPIM those are both editing software. Do a search on them and you will find out more thanks,

Thank you RJB, I forgot to add that i had to manaully download the drivers. I think i heard USCC deleted them or made them non funtional as a way to keep people using the easyedge to purchase stuff.

| Banned | LOL I think every carrier has their own music stores to buy and get things. To me these are just a waste as I spend enough on the service. Once you get the technical stuff out of the way you will be amazed what you can do with a phone. When I first came here I didnt even know what a cell tower is now I can pretty much do anything to a phone.

Thats the way i see it also, Greed if you want to call it that. You pay for your monthly service then easyedge then for whatever program you want off of easyedge, Sticking it to ya not once, not twice, but 3 times!

For simplicity, you don't need MPT to load your own ringers on a uscc V3m. That's what I have, and you have a few easy - and FREE - options: 1) If you have a picture messaging package (even pay-as-you-go), incoming is free, so just email it to your10digit#@mms.uscc.net. 2) If you have bluetooth on your computer, just pair your phone with your computer and transfer them that way. 3) If a friend with a OBEX-enabled phone has a ringer you like, just pair your phone with theirs and transfer that way. 4) Load the ringers on your memory card, put it in your phone, then transfer the ringers from the card to the phone's memory. Easy as that. Just make sure the ringers are MP3 format, and you'll be fine. In my experience, the V3m will support Qualcomm QPC files, but they are real quiet. MP3's are the best for this situation, and there are numorous FREE programs that will allow you to make your own ringers, such as Audacity. |

While (or after) listening to the tone, press Options (left soft key) > Store > File. That will open the ringer in the media player. Then press The OK button, change the name if you want, and press OK again. You'll find it with the rest of your ringtones.
