Oct 11 (Reuters) - United States Cellular Corp. (USM.A: Quote, Profile, Research) on Wednesday said it received $95.1 million and expects to get up to an additional $10.5 million from the sale of its interest in Midwest Wireless Holdings to Alltel Corp. (AT.N: Quote, Profile, Research).

U.S. Cellular had an interest of about 14 percent in Midwest Wireless Communications L.L.C., which was convertible into an interest of about 11 percent in Midwest Wireless Holdings L.L.C.

The deal was announced in November last year when Alltel had agreed to acquire Midwest Wireless Holdings for about $1.075 billion in cash. The deal closed on Oct. 3, 2006.
Well its great that US Cellular got its check in the mail. I am sure they will do good with the money.

Maybe they could use the money to get the Alltel divestments in Southern MN.

Yeah, I guess they could do that. Those poor people have been divested more times than I care to count.

look at people in Northern Iowa

Fall of 1999 Commnet Cellular to Airtouch
Spring 2000 Airtouch to Verizon Wireless
Summer 2000 Verizon Wireless to Midwest Wireless
Then in 2007 Midwest Wireless to Alltel

That is some changing I think.

Only difference is that the Northern IA people have had a good network the last few years as compared to the Alltel divestment properties in Southern MN.

The Midwest Wireless network in N. Iowa is quite good. I spent last summer in Okoboji and didn't drop a single call on Midwest's network.
