I know this is a bit off-topic, but I figured it was worth sharing with all of you here. If you get a new computer with XP or you upgrade your current Windows version from [whatever] to XP, be forewarned that Pacific Bell DSL has issued a warning. The software ("EnterNet") and associated drivers will not work on XP. PacBell's website offers step-by-step instructions that are precisely correct in setting up a DSL connection using XP's own DSL drivers. I just bought a new PC (1.7GHz) which is a real "screamer!" of a performer. I bought it because of the increased graphic editing I've been doing lately. (256M DDRAM, and everythign else is greased lightening on this machine.) It took me parts of 4 days to backup my old system, but I am now fully on the new one--and love it! |

Ya.....I have XP too and been downloading updates for a while for it. I used to have Win. ME and I really liked it. With my new computer though............i have gotten spoiled to XP FYI: You can set XP up to be like classical windows...............just in case XP is a little too different for ya. |

With XP, you don't need any software like Enternet. XP has PPPoE built-in. Or you can always download RASPPPoE which works great in XP. Much better than Enternet anyway.

Hey all-- this is my first post on the forum--- yeah- XP is cool- but a bit buggy- seems a bit slower than windows 2000 pro too when you get to using it for any real work--- but I really love the all in one icon feature- great for when I have 50 aim chats running!!! boots up fast too--- maybe when I do a fresh install it'll run better.... Jay. |
