Default LONG Delay/Problems

I have found that when I am logged in and I click on a thead, it can take up to 5 minutes to load the thread.

Same when I click reply to someone....up to 5 minutes before I get the screen to type my reply. Like this reply, took almost 5 minutes to come up. Then once I finish typing and click SUBMIT, it can take another 5 minutes to post.

If I am not logged in, I can get to any thread with normal speed (can't post of course) Been going on for 2 or 3 days now. That's why I haven't been here posting the last few days

Anyone else experiencing this? If not, administrators--you guys have any ideas?

This used to happen to me when I used Internet explorer..I switched to another browser (safari for MAC) and can get in easily!!! don't know what the problem was....but Safari has no problems reading the site.

I have noticed this problem on an older laptop running Win 98 and IE 6. Also only in the past 3 - days. It is annoying. We'll see if we can track down the problem.

Since it only happens when you are logged in, give this a try...log out, delete your cookies and then log back in.

This seems to be happening to various people, including me. There is another thread from ronnieg56 on the same topic.

I'm using Windows XP and have tried all the suggested fixes. I even used the IE browser on my Apple Powerbook and had the same problem! My solution has been to use AOL's browser (no problems). Its odd that I don't have problems w/ the same IE browsers on HoFO since I think WA and HoFo use the same software?

I also found out that this site and a few others aren't friendly to the Earthlink dial-up speed booster program I installed a while back. I ended up having to delete the program.

Yep....at work we run windows 2000, so it is with that as well.

Joe...I usually delete my cookies frequently, so that hasn't helped. Thanks for looking into it

This works for me, but I have to make sure I uncheck the "Remember Me" box. As soon as I let it use a cookie, the problem comes back.

I don't know if this has been said before but...it sounds to me like certain version's of Windows and IE screw up the load times....which in turn makes the process of surfing WA difficult...but that is just my opinion so I don't know I am right or not.

I had problems with this web site being slow also. I switched internet browsers and now this site works just fine for me. I'm using Mozilla Firefox. It's a great browser and works great for this website. I like it so much that I've even now set it as my default web browser. I highly recommend you guys give this browser a try!

Agreed... Mozilla Firefox is an awesome browser... that's what I use exclusively now for non-work stuff. Unfortunately, the lame-o's at work appear to have written a bunch of scripts using some custom Microsoft stuff that doesn't display on any non-ie browser, so I am stuck with IE for work stuff.
