Hi Folks, I'm a long time cell phone user in Quebec, Canada. I've owned many phones since 1994 or so and am curently on two different networks (Fido-GSM and Bell Mobility-CDMA). My main phone now is an older Kyocera 3245 on Bell Mobility that has proven to have the best reception of all the phones I've ever owned, even though I'm very far from my provider's nearest tower (about 15km plus I live in the mountains). I have a Yagi antenna on the roof of my house for better reception. Reception and Clarity are for me the most important features of a phone because of where I live. Reliability and robustness are close seconds, because I constantly have to install and remove my antenna adapters... I have been browsing this forum for several hours now looking for the debug code for the Kyocera 3245, but haven't been able to find it. I need it to access the Receive signal meter so that I may realign my yagi antenna better (it got out of alignment after a tremendous storm we've had here). I will post in the proper forum with more details. My other current interests are cell phone amplifiers, antenna designs, and of course, cables and connectors, and cell phone cloning (so I may eventually be able to have permanent powerful phones in the car and house with th same number as my portable). Basically, any subject regarding how to get the best possible signal in the house and in the car Thanks for the warm welcome, Mods! |

This is actually my second post (first was in response to mmw for bachkaul). I have made my career in the wireless industry for over 12 years, mostly on the network deployment and operations side for carriers, broadcast and the US government/military. I sometimes feel dumb when it comes to handset tricks, yet I can design and deploy a 10k site cellular network including MTSO/MSC/BSC switching and backhaul. Go figure. I hope to learn, and educate. |

I just bought a used Razr v3c phone and activated it with my verizon service. It still says Alltel expanded on the screen, and does not have Get it now. I called tech support (verizon), and they say I need to take it in to have verizon software loaded. I can not connect to any applications, but the phone seems to work fine. Is there anything I can do myself?

At the main forum page scroll through the list of forums and choose the one that seems most appropriate for your question. You will see they are organized by region, carrier and manufacturer, among other groupings. If you want to be really diligent, you can go to a forum and use the search function to see if anyone has asked your question before. Otherwise, just start a new thread. Have fun! | |
