Mr Tee, your phone will work, since the 1900 band is used in the United States, but Cingular uses 800/1900 on their network, and with a 1900 only phone your coverage will be significantly less stellar than with the 800/1900 phone you currently own. The new phone you're talking about is a European model, since they are Tri band phones with both European frequencies (900 and 1800). Hope this helps. |

Welcome to WA... The reason it is asking for a correct sim card is because the phone is locked and sees the Cingular sim card as if from a different service provider.

I've been trolling around the boards, but thought I'd come here and formally introduce myself. My name is Ashley (~*Ash*~ as most of y'all see me sign my posts). I am a 21 year old female, from Tahlequah, Oklahoma. I attended Northeastern State University for 2 years, before realizing I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to major in, so I'm on a break for the moment, figuring things out. I am working for the Cherokee Nation in the medical field, and my office is inside of a hospital. My job description is a receptionist, but let me tell you, I do alot more than answer the phones... I could go on and on about myself, but I'm sure you guys don't care to hear me drone on about my boring life. I am glad to be here tho, and I'm thankful for all the great people that use these boards. ~*Ash*~ |

Hey Everybooty!!! As a loyal AT&T WIRELESS member for ~7 years I am no newbie to the cellular world. However due to the fact that I never experienced any other wireless carrier service except an early version of the Verizon Wireless Network (Early Verizon SUUUCKEDDD HARD!!!) I subscribed to this forum with the intention of finding out who provides the best FLORIDA plan for the $$$ and separately who has the most coverage between here and INDIANA (I can guess - but hope I am wrong). I HATE ROAMING AND I I @$%& ROCK ON TDMA!!! IT MAY BE OLD BUT IT WORKS FAR BETTER THAN GSM OR ANY "NEW AND EMERGING" @$%& TECHNOLOGY I HAVE SEEN YET!!! MAXX Please don't let my frustrations scare away your replies. If any of you care to set me straight then please do so with a @$%& GOOD reason!!! By the way, the group of undercover CINGULAR sales and marketing people who post every minute on this site is really annoying!!! You people if you work for Cingular you are certainly earning your $$$ BUT YOU ARE BRAINWASHED IMBECILES!!! |

I also know my parents have Alltel & they have no problems with there service & you can get National no roaming plans with any carrier, take advantage of the different carriers trial periods and use the phone everywhere you need it and that should help you make a good choice. Remember TDMA will start getting shut down next year by Cingular to build out and get the bandwidth they need for GSM, so your coverage will eventually start going downhill. And saying alot of the people here work for Cingular & are brainwashed is very incorrect, people here post what they have found works the best for them and the amt of actual wireless provider workers here is less then you think. For me I found Cingular works very well for me, but respect the opinions of others and what works best for them in the area's where they live in & most of the people here have tried other carriers and found the 1 that gives them the best service and they post there personal experiences, which is what makes this place so great. It also gives people the ability to help others and recommend 1 carrier over another, but I am sure most will agree with me that only you can find out which carrier works best for you by trying different ones. 1 last personal note, there is no need for all the cursing while posting, sometimes you get better results without them. Hope this helps you some on your quest for a new carrier.

Newbie here! My name is Carol and I am really disappointed with Cellular One service-I have a Motorola 555- the connections are garbled or non-existant! I got a cell phone 6 months ago- BECAUSE, I have MS and should I fall I need help- Not having a connection and clear signal is unacceptable! I thought this WA would be helpful and maybe tell me what I could do to be released from my 2 year contract....but looking though some of the threads, it seems that a perfect carrier doesn't exist Any suggestions?? |

Welcome to all newcomers!! Stoney48, post in the regional forum that applies to your part of the US or in one of the General Wireless forums. You can also PM (private message) larry (Super Mod with loads of Sprint expertise) or Jonathan Kramer, who deals with the wireless industry as part of his occupation. Feel free to visit his site at: http://www.kramerfirm.com/ You can also contact the following tower firm sites: www.crowncastle.com www.spectrasite.com www.americantower.com Hope this helps,
