Question T-Mobile/Quad-Band Phone Question

Since I dumped Cingular, I have a fully usable V551. Since it is a quad band phone, and it is unlocked, can or will the 800/850 band be used by the phone if needed with my T-Mobile service? Or has T-Mobile not yet opened up that band for roaming use yet in the L.A. area? I may be completely misunderstanding how this works, but those in the know, please advise...

850 won't help you in LA, but TM is testing 850 in some areas (currently MS, AL I think) so it would work there.

Even if T-Mobile dose not have any roaming on 850 in your area, you can still use the phone in case of a emergency.
