T-Mobile Project Dark Is $50 Everything Unlimited Plan? Posted on Sat, 10 Oct 2009 04:59:33 CDT | by Luigi Lugmayr | Topic: Rumors Yesterday we reported about a rumor that T-Mobile USA has something big coming up on October 25th called Project Black. Apparently it is really called Project Dark inside T-Mobile. BoyGenius got some infos from a Tipster that cannot be verified, but it sounds interesting. According to the Tipster T-Mobile Project Dark will be all about a super aggressively priced all you can eat plan that includes voice, SMS, MMS and data plan for $50. The T-Mobile Everything Unlimited Plan would be half of what Sprint charges for their Everything plan. Besides the $50 Everything Unlimited plan, T-Mobile will launch the BlackBerry Bold 9700, the Nokia N900 and another Nseries Nokia. To top things off, T-Mobile employees would get new uniforms. In our initial report that launch date for T-Mobile Project Dark is October 25th. Will see what happens, but if the above is true it could send shockwaves through the carrier landscape in the United States and finally open a real price war that we already have in many European countries. Well, I honestly hope it is something that will actually start a price war because I feel that a price war is something the U.S. wireless market needs. Its been to long and the wireless carriers have kept jacking up prices..especially on Messaging. The thing people should remember is that, if T-Mobile's Project Dark does spark a price war, I wouldn't go running to to T-Mobile right away. Wait for the other carriers' prices to drop because you could end up being able to get a very good deal with a carrier with more coverage....O_o.

to steveb even though i believe in what you are saying, i have been with tmobile for 10 years, and if they come down to the 50 dollar plan, i will jump all over it. yes they have been slow in advancements but, in general, they have also been a price leader. i own a small pest control business and customer loyalty is very important, as long an tmobile improves, and hopefully a little faster than they have in the PAST side note off topic - health insurance=legalized organized crime, for the small business owner!! I really think the reason why T-Mobile doesn't really have the strongest network is because they keep their prices lower. I like T-Mobile, but, I haven't yet got the confidence in them about network quality and network stability. I am also hoping that they speed up network improvements as well. Its a waiting game. Anyway, again, welcome to WirelessAdvisor. =)

yep u be right, coverage is important and hate to admit but veri and at... have the best but all that will change in the future. i had to quit sprint 10 years ago cause of all the dropped calls, and went with tmobile cause of price 39 $/month for 1500 minutes in the dallas/ft worth area. plus i have a city next to mine called flower mound, texas, and they have had a long standing attitude with cell phone towers, it almost as if, they were trying to make the providers lives miserable with regards to increasing coverage. in the dfw area i usually get around 5 dropped calls per year and most of the time it is when i am talking to another cell phone. looking forward to 10-25-2009 to see what really happens |

from my understanding, yes, if you google it , there is all kinds of info but it is the same over and over, internally tmobile calls it something diff, project dark or black i do not know i just hope it is for real. tmobile is suppose to even be changing uniforms grey/black shirts/pants or vice versa take care please look here http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/1...ed-youre-in-t/ Last edited by web3221; 10-12-2009 at 3:28 PM. If this is true, it represents a serious price cut. Right now, TMobile charges $99.99 for unlimited Talk & Text plus $24.99 for unlimited data. That amounts to a 60% price cut. Do they expect to lure enough people over to pay for that? Would they still subsidize handsets at that price?

they are going to lure people from all the wireless companies, or the biggies are going to have to fall in line. if my phone costs a little extra i do not care. this will surely make our wireless markets more competitive like those in europe. the wreless and cable/satellite providers have been raping the public for far to long. there is a good link above that discusses the situation, but the discussions/responses are the best i have seen on the web. google it there is lots of stuff out there there is also a rumor that tmobile wll be offering this to their customers first- but we will not know anything for real till 10-25-2009. lets hope for he best Last edited by web3221; 10-13-2009 at 2:25 PM. Right now I have a family plan on Sprint with two Pres. I also have a iPhone 3Gs on AT&T. If this project "Dark or Black" is true, bye bye AT&T. Hello Cliq or Bold 2 and a jail broke iPhone using Edge on T-Mobile

Supposedly I am getting trained tomorrow on the Dark Project so who knows I have heard all the rumors too and have no idea what to believe. After the last two weeks I wished it was a project getting rid of the sidekick FOREVER, because now I hate them. I took 48 calls yesterday and in those calls 44 of them were sidekick cancellations, if I sound bitter, it is because I am.

The cat was already out of the bag yesterday (from posts at HowardForums). It is $50 for unlimited voice only, and you can add another $10 for unlimited texting, and then yet another $20 for unlimited data.

Here's some awesome clarification from a poster on HoFo. This is based on the information shown in screen shots of the plan information. Of course, whether this is actually what Project Dark is or not, we'll find out early next week, but here's the information provided by frenchy99 on HowardForums specifically about the Individual plans. Note: Apparently the Even More plans are the 2yr. contract plans with a phone subsidy, and the Even More Plus plans are no contract with no phone subsidy. Again, we'll know for sure on the 25th. Unconfirmed screenshots of the price plans can be found if you google "Tmobile Project Dark" There a 2 pricing schemes one for 2 year contracts and subsidized phone, while the other is no contract and retail price for the phone. Both schemes contain Talk, Talk & Text, and Talk, Text, & Web with various minute plans for both individual and Family. The contract plans seem more or less in line with Sprint's. For some, Tmobile is slightly better, for others Sprint is. Individual unlimited everything is $99.99, just like Sprint. For Talk only and Talk & Text, Tmobile's plans are a little better (more minutes for the buck). For Talk, Text, & Web (not unlimited talk), I'd go with Sprint because of the AnyMobile, AnyTime. Family Plans are a bit harder to judge because the ads don't show what additional lines cost on Tmobile. For Talk & Text and Talk, Text, & Data the plans only overlap at the 1500 minute plan. Sprint has no lower minute plan and Tmobile has no higher minute plan. |

I'll also point out those screen shots make no mention of MyFavs, just standard M2M to other Tmobile phones

Well, I've been to the Web Site, and while the Even More Plus plans match the screenshots we've seen, the Even More (2year contract, subsidized phones) are talk only plans. Messaging and Data are added a la carte.

| we are over 4000 migrations for the week in our call center alone so far as of about noon today. So I would have to say been pretty good, and judging by our activations dept code all week there have been extended hold times and lots of people calling in so I would have to say so far so good. Our retention dept has been not nearly as busy as normal...which is also a great sign..and a welcome relief.

Any idea how many of those are existing customers switching plans vs. new activations?
