Default Unlocked Centro cyling "Roaming" "T-Mobile"

I purchased an unlocked Centro (previous AT&T) for my wife in January. Last week, the carrier on the phone page started cycling between T-Mobile and Roaming.

I used my unlocked (also previously AT&T) Palm Treo 650 for a week and it was doing the same thing. It still would be if I didn't just (tonight) upgrade to an unlocked (previous Cingular) Treo 680.

Any ideas?

Check the network settings.

See if it is set to 'manual' or 'automatic'. Also check to see what the "search speed" is...

I have tried manually selecting T-Mobile and the automatic mode.
Where do I find "Search Speed"?

I went to the T-Mobile Store today. I had an old SunCom 3.0 SIM card in the phone, so we tried a new T-Mobile 3.? card. The cycling stopped, but I was not able to receive calls for a couple of hours. After two and a half hours, calls were able to come in and they were associated with their assigned ringtones.

So, it looks like the SIM card is the fix. I will know better in a few weeks. If it is the fix, I'll need to get one for my phone too. I think it is roaming, even though it isn't flashing.

BTW - both Treos are ex-Cingular. The 650 is not ex-AT&T as stated above. The Centro is the only ex-AT&T.
