Tmobile now has a feature that is free that can block sms/mms/im/emails, anything that is a chargeable message so no more frustration receiving messages that you did not solicit, if you don't want to be txted and don't want to txt you can block the ability, you can customize too. You select to block IM, but not txt, you can select to block txt not im, you can select to block all or just what type of messaging that you want, if you have a bundle say for example the 4.99 bundle that gives you up to 400 msgs per month, you can add the block and if you get up to 400 you will not be receiving anymore msgs unless you upgrade your bundle (9.99 1000, or 14.99 unlimited) or your billing cycle resets.

these are not options you can set up for yourself at this time you have to call in, and to answer the question about prepaid, no at this time the block cannot be put on prepaid, but should be available within a week or two

It took twice to get it in, as it has 4 check boxes, one for each of 3 kinds of blocks and a 4th one for all of them. I checked them all and it threw an error, telling me to call, so I checked just the one for "all" and that seemed to stick. Looks like they're soft launching it, there's no promotions in the ad areas yet. It's a good day in the customer service universe - thank you!! | |

Just took care of this today. Now texts and IM's are blocked. It's about time, T-Mobile!

| i was pointing out in the other thread though that this is actually better than AT&Ts because when you block messaging with AT&T you flat out lose everything.....no system messages.......or if you turn off data you lose MMS.......T-Mobile has obviously figured out a way to handle this whole blocking thing a lot more selectively

| I don't know what their trouble is. My girlfriend had two of three lines on her account with messaging & data disabled for a long time and neither line had any trouble with receiving these. Plus, one of the lines was also getting some unsolicited system notifications from AT&T (as opposed to responses to star code inquiries). This line is still blocked and is still receiving them.

wow... anyways so its nice to see TMOB is slowly catching up to cellphone service of 3 years ago. next stop 3G (hopefully) by the time everyone else goes 4G. TMOB seems to have no sense of urgency. its pretty funny honestly. |

| Well focus seems to be shifting for tmobile we are adapting to what our customers are telling us they want. As our customer base grows so does our network and our capabilities. We still make the difference with cost and overrall Cust satisfaction (not fanboyism, but fact according to JD Powers 7 times running). Now we are adapting to provide High Speed data because a lot of our customers are telling us that is what they need and want. I agree though with a smaller company like tmobile now becoming a major player progress has been slower than even we would like it. Progress is expensive though and to maintain profitablility Tmobile has made progress while still maintaining a vast base of employees directly employed by tmobile. I think in the end this is going to be what carries tmobile through and keeps our overall subscribers gained every year growing exponentially. But as was pointed out to me recently not every company is for everybody so I can see how you would think there is no sense of urgency because the 3g thing has taken longer than planned. But it does say something I think that even without these services tmobile has managed to gain as much of a market share as they have. Guess that just goes to the point that every company is not for everybody. Now that the 3G data network will be a reality I am interested to see how this affects our cust gained numbers. I am cautiously optimistic.
