so im phone hunting for a friend who has T-Mobile but will be upgrading.......she would like to get a Blackberry becasue she has a Sidekick and really likes how seamless the network handles push features and she has confidence in the devices

i was looking at the 8820 for her and it says under information "high speed internet"

does this mean it is UMTS capable?

Yes it is, it's just not a highly advertised feature of the phone because it is not available in all areas. But this is the same as the Tmobile Shadow which is also UMTS capable, Great question. Thanks The only drawback I see with this model for most users is that it doesn't have the camera but if she doesn't need a camera this is a great device for her.
