T-Mobile will be starting a new advertising blitz this summer: Coverage is Personal. T-Mobile does get a lot of negative reviews in the coverage department (mainly from non users) even though it has improved in many key areas. Go to any online forum and you'll see what I mean. These new ads are designed to combat this stigma. Here is the first commercial that started floating around yesterday. It's not flashy or catchy, but it is what it is. Sneak Peak Coverage Ad I'm sure there will be more to come.

As a T-Mobile customer myself, I can say their coverage is adequate, but not great. Lately I've had better luck with AT&T. This surprises me considering I've had better service from T-Mobile most of the time. They have some work to do in the coverage department, so while this new ad campaign is nice and forward-thinking, it will get a similar reaction as AT&T's "Fewer Dropped Calls" campaign did: "yeah, right!".

Hi Mike: I believe what makes these ads different is that instead of saying: "we have the best coverage," or "we have the fewest dropped calls," is that they are stating that they are upfront about their coverage by offering a street level map indicating approximate signal strength. At least that is what I got out of it.

yeah truth is hard to stomach sometimes...lol we are all jaded by advertising, all in all though I am excited about this new approach that tmobile is taking, or at least putting some money behind, we have always been pretty honest and up front about our coverage

Yes, T-Mobile has been upfront with their coverage. That's one thing I applaud them on! Unfortunately for me, they have some catching up to do in my area. Hopefully with these 3G buildouts, things will improve eventually.

| Well I know for one my area is pretty rural, and in a lot of places T-Mobile coverage map says I'd be getting 1-2 bars but I'm not gettnig anything, whereas ATT does get coverage (don't know how strong though, it's just seen on network search). Of course that's because of 1900 only I guess.. but those maps in rural areas at least can disappoint some. Btw my zip code is 19310 if anyone cares

I really think this is a great advertising campaign for just the reason you don't like ATT Mike. Unlike Verizon and ATT, we don't claim to have the best coverage or anything of the sort. I think it's a shame T-Mobile has a bad stigma about coverage due to not spending millions of dollars bragging about it like the other providers. Unfortunately here in the US, every provider has holes in different places and having a detailed coverage map is the best way to check to see if any provider's coverage will work for you. If you read either Consumer Reports or JD Power, T-Mobile is consistently on top with Verizon (both takes turns being #1 and #2 in most areas) head and shoulders above ATT and Sprint. Despite this fact, most people I talk to feel that T-Mobile is inferior to all the companies just because they are the smallest in total subscirbers and don't advertise this great coverage. I'm very exicted to see these ads airing and hope that more people will learn how good T-Mobile's coverage may be for them.
