| Seems like there is a "software" glitch in the organizer section of the phone...particularily with the events calendar and the alarms. A message will pop-up on the main screen "9 calendar events" and then I click on the soft-key to view...nothing. The phone will just go back to it's main screen. Then sometimes the phone will reset itself by shutting off/on if I don't close the slider right away, and had left the phone open. Then if I try to go under the calendar section, click on "missed alarm events", the phone will momentarily lock, then turn itself off/on. Any suggestions? I'm perplexed!!

If it continues to reset, then you definitely have a defective phone. I hope you're within your 30-day period, that way you can get a better phone, preferably not a Samsung..

| yeah man call and if you are in CA then you do have a 30 day remorse period on the phone you can return it if not you will be allowed to exchange for another blast that hopefully doesn't have the same glitch or you may just cut your losses get the phone unlocked and sell it on ebay/craigslist or somewhere and buy a motorola or nokia, or perhaps it's time to jump into a smartphone |

| Thanks Mike & TMobileman for your responses. I replaced my Dash with this phone on my 50th B-Day thinking it was "a good thing", due to that I was never really using my Dash to it's full potential. I rarely perused the internet, and never Wi-Fi'd. I only looked at and answered text e-mail's, and did some texting. I did pull some e-mail attachments...but then they were difficult to look at because you had to scroll right/left to view them. So I ended up going on my computer at home. But then I did like the e-mail push of the Dash. By going to the Blast, thought I was saving some money because the e-mail push on the Blast only requires the $5.99 plan, instead of the $19 plan the Dash required. Getting back to the Blast...I was texting with a T-Mobile rep who suggested I do a "master reset". Luckily, my contacts are saved on-line (a new feature the Dash didn't have that I like), but I'll have to write down all my calendar events and re-load them after doing the master reset. What's your take on doing a master reset? Could it solve this issue? If not, then they'll ship me out another Blast. If that doesn't work, then I'll have to try another phone. Any suggestions? Maybe a Blackberry Pearl? But then I'm up to the $19 plan and features that I may never or rarely use. I just want simply e-mail and text! What to do...what to do...what to do. OH...I am within my 30-day trial. Bought it on April-28th.

| The master reset may help for now, all that does though is restore to factory default settings, so this would be a good fix if there is a setting that you may have changed that is causing some sort of conflict, the rule of thumb is that if the feature worked out of the box, then the master reset will make it work again. But if there is nothing you changed then sounds like (unfortunately samsung is notorious for this) the software can't keep up with the limited use that you're doing. The Nokia is a nice phone but no email, I love my dash, but for me data is free as an employee, so I can definately understand wanting to save $$$. Tmobile does have a feature for both Blackberry and Winmobile devices for 9.99 that is email only, since you said that you didn't really use the internet feature and you would still be able to do the wifi feature free you should sign up for the email only feature for your dash this would be what I would do I think if I were you. Since you are in your trial still send the phone back call before you do so that they know it's coming back so your upgrade is reversed and your contract extension if you did one is also reversed that way when the new devices come out (some this coming week, some in June and then the 3g devices this fall) your qualified for the best discount, hope this helps |

| Well Mike & TMobileman...I did the "master reset". It fixed the calendar/alarm issue, (but then again I don't know for sure, for I haven't re-entered any of my Anniversaries/B-day's/appt's). But now the phonebook is acting weird! After I told it to sync, it re-populated the phone book OK, but if I try to index a name...such as entering the letter "J" for Jerry, it just makes this sound and gives a "?" question mark...and then does nothing! Well, I'm going to try 1 more time. if this doesn't do it...back it goes! I was looking also at the Motorola Razr-2, V8...but there are a lot of negative comments in Phonescoop with people complaining the Linux system is very slow. I checked out that Nokia...looks OK, just a little bumbed it doesn't have the same keypad that the Blast does. This may be going in another totally different direction, but what about a Sidekick? I would be a flat $19 for everything, including text...I could then drop the $4.99 text plan. Let me know, and Thanks again! Chris |

It's a 7-game series and the Lakers lead 2-1. Just keep the faith. Check out the 2008 NBA Playoffs and Finals thread in the Roaming Zone. I mentioned a lot of the same stuff as I said here.

| If you're going to go with the SK you should go with the LX the Slide have an issue with rebooting at random times, not all but some, did you see my suggestion about just adding the email only feature for your dash? it's only 9.99, also works with the shadow which has the same keypad as the blast..just a thought good luck. |

| I'll look into the SK-LX. I'm going to try a new Blast. They're shipping it out to my express at their cost. Plus gave me a 100 extra peak minutes...since I'm near the end of my 600 for this month. I heard that about the Slide. Thanks for the suggestion about the Dash...but unfortunately that's not an option, since I sold my Dash on Craigslist a couple of weeks ago. Guess I should have kept it! Despite Samsung's reputation...as I'm learning and finding out, the thought of going to a bigger, heavier phone like the SK is something I'm not sure I want to do. I like the size and weight of the Blast...and the things it can do suit's my needs at the moment. Last edited by CRC; 05-28-2008 at 3:20 AM. Reason: Added an additional comment. |

| Yeah, I guess it's obvious I am not a fan of Samsung. I had a Samsung phone with Verizon some years ago that drove me nuts. I can't stand their UI, nor the design and function of their phones. IMO, they make too many phones that look too much alike. T-Mobile carries far too many of them. After my bad experience, I've avoided them like the plague. Unless they come out with something I want thats REALLY GOOD, maybe I'll give them a second chance, but hell hasn't frozen over yet, so no Samsuck for me... |

| Weeellll Mike & T-Mo-Man, I received my replacement Blast on Thursday. While all the calendar functions and alarms work...also the e-mail now fully works, this Blast I got now has a problem or "short" in the keypad! So I went today and looked at the Nokia 6263 you recommended Mike. So far I like it. The Nokia has the same calendar functions on it that I like on the Blast, and it also has a similar "push" e-mail client that the Blast has. The only thing I noticed with playing around on the store model today, is the Nokia seems to be a tad slower in responding when entering any command. Other than that, they only thing I'll be losing is the semi-qwerty keypad. I'll have to wait for T-Mobile to get back my 1st defective handset that I mailed back via-UPS on Thursday. They should have it Monday/Tuesday. I'll then see about sending this phone back and exchanging it for the Nokia. Thanks again for your suggestion! Chris |

| OK...Just so I fully understand, I'm on Blast #2...once I find out they have received Blast #1 back, I can call for 1 more Blast replacement? Also, I'm just past my 30-days. If I decide to buy the Nokia 6263 out of pocket (the guys at my regular T-Mobile store will try to give me some deal on it), will I be able to get my $145 back from T-Mobile if I return the defective Blast handset? I also have the $5.99 warranty package, I don't know if that will help. Thanks again guys for all your assistance! Chris |

once you're past the buyer's remorse you can't get your money back for the blast sorry, my advice now is to let the store deal with you for the Nokia that you want, then call and get the blast unlocked and sell it to the highest bidder, the 5.99 equip protection is like car insurance for your phone...5.99 premium 70.00 deductable if anything that is not covered by the warranty happens you pay the deductable without having to sign a new contract to get phone replaced...i.e. lost, theft, accidental damage, water damage...It really sucks but you probably should have sent it back to start with...remember the rule of thumb is if you have a problem in the trial period, always get your money back...now the store should be able to deal with you for the phone if they piss you off call and threaten to cancel, don't be a jerk about it, but be real about it, and tmobile will make you a deal with a contract...that is the unfortunate reality of your situation my friend. Hope all works out, if all else fails buy the nokia, exchange the samsung again and then get it unlocked and sell it get some if not all of your money back...i'll give you ten bucks for it...JK...Good luck
