Outlook assistance?

I know I had some contacts on my Shadow but then I synced and they weren't there. If they're not in outlook on my PC will outlook knock them off after I sync? Is there a way so that when I sync that new contacts I've added to my phone manually can be updated on my PC?

I know with my dash when I sync I have set up the settings in activsync to not override my phone contacts, so check the settings in the program sure it just changing a simple setting
