Default Picture & Video Messaging

So I have been noticing that with T-Mobile when I send a message to the network it can take a long time for the person to get a message. I work with guys that mostly have T-Mobile and when I do send them something it can be 5-6 hours later before they get it. Just wondering is this something that has been going on for a while or does it come and go???

I have had much better luck using T-Mobile's MMS in the outbound direction than inbound, although most of my inbound was done via email, not straight from a phone. With email I've seen it arriving within minutes, hours, next day or not at all, so I can't paint a consistent picture. Sending out seemed to work without a delay every time. I have to say I'm not really a user of MMS, but I was doing a lot of testing several times (most often when I bought a new phone or needed to troubleshoot a problem for a friend) and the last of the tests were done in the fall of 2006, so this may have improved since then.

MMS with T-mobile is very inconsistent. If I send a picture or a video to someone with AT&T, it generally takes around 5-20 minutes before they get notified. That's fine. When I send an MMS to a verizon phone, its anywhere from instant to several days. For instance, I sent 3 videos to a friend yesterday and 2 of them made it so far. The 1st one took about 20 minutes, the 2nd took 10. Who knows what happened to the 3rd one. AFAIK she still hasnt recieved it yet. When I recieve an MMS it takes between 10 minutes to 1 day to get through. When it works, it's very quick, i just wish that it worked that way all the time.

RJB - Is your problem restricted to MMS? I have T-Mobile for my personal phone but I don't use MMS enough to have any perspective on performance - I've probably used it < 10 times in 6 months. However, I've rarely had any problems with SMS. They seem to go through immediately - I can have a conversation on SMS as fast as I and the other person can type - and it doesn't seem to matter what provider they use.

EDIT : Oops, sorry - just noticed the thread title...Duh! Never mind...

I often wonder sometimes if this isn't related to network congestion in a particular area or time of the day that a message is being sent.
I have Verizon and TMobile, and it seems to me that the evening hours have the worst timing when it comes to message arrivals with both networks.
During the day I can send a message and it will arrive within 5 minutes as compared to the much slower time of one to two hours in the evening.

Those are very good points.

I have had the same experiences with the MMS on TMo as well. I thought that it was my phone, the Nokia 6010 on prepaid. During the evening hours, I don't even get the MMS on my Tmo until 2 in the morning (the message was sent at 9 or 10 at night); outbound MMS to my VZW took less time. TXT was almost instanteous.
