Thumbs down An open letter to T-Mobile

Dear T-Mobile:

You are my company's standard. I was thinking about getting a prepaid plan from you so that I can talk to my employees and coworkers using mobile-to-mobile minutes... I could bung the SIM into the Chocolate I bought in Hong Kong...

...except unlike Verizon and AT&Tingular, you don't offer mobile-to-mobile on prepaid plans. In point of fact, you don't offer mobile-to-mobile on anything except postpaid family plans with two-year contracts (even if I bring my phone), which start at $59.99 a month.

Oh, and thank you for the coverage locator, which confirms there's a big giant honkin' dead spot centered pretty much on my house. I'll stick to using my good ol' Verizon postpaid phone.

So much for you.

No love,

ZaphodB

TMobile does offer "Unlimited in-network" calling as an add on to their single line post paid plans for $6.99/month. Also a two year agreement is not a requirement in order to get In Network calling on their family plans. You can also do a one year contract as well.

Family plans:

Verizon : $69.00, 700 minutes/month, Unlim In Network and N&W included.
TMobile: $59.99, 700 min./month , Unlim In Network and N&W included.
Cingular: $59.99 550 min./month, with roll over, Unlim In Network & N&W included.

It appears to me that TMobile is the cheapest when it comes to family plans, and would still be a good option for someone who does have good service in their area.

One of the reasons why TMobile isn't currently offering M2M on their To Go prepaid service is that they are already the cheapest per minute prepaid service available, even without M2M.

None of which helps Zaphod, who is looking for M2M on prepaid & has no coverage from home

LOL....I think his post had more to do with venting his frustrations with TMobiles lack of offerings and coverage in his area than asking for help.

Zaphod, I was simply trying to clarify a few key points that were made in your OP for other members of the forum.

Right, I understand that the family plans may be a good deal, but I'm not about to leave Verizon -- most of my friends and almost all of my family are "IN". I just wanted a "throwaway" so that I could not be causing people at work to be wasting minutes, nor waste minutes myself. We actually have the Verizon plan through my wife's work (an old, old ACI plan), with 1200 anytime minutes, N/W, and M2M for $70 less 20%, so $54, plus the $9.99 for add-a-line... $63.99.

Also, NOWHERE on T-Mobile's site does it mention M2M as an add-on for any price.

LOL...With a plan like that, I wouldn't leave Verizon either.
After looking at TMobiles plans on their website, I see that you are correct in that they do not list the $6.99 M2M as an add on, however they do list this on all of their brochures.... Also TMobile like all the other carriers, does not give their customers the option of signing up for a one year contract instead of a two year.... Even though you can do this by going into the store or calling up the sales dept.... IMO most carriers do a better job with their brochures than they do with their web sites.

I found it, but it's hard to get. I went through the process of buying a phone, and it is at the bottom of the "service and accessories" page. But, you shouldn't have to go that far.

I found it now too after going through the same way of ordering first....IMO, potential customers shouldn't have to go through the ordering process in order to see all the added services that are available. Having M2M listed directly under all of their plans would seem to make more sense to me.
