Default Virgin Mobile, T-Mobile & European Prepaid

Currently, I use two cell phones when I travel, one for the USA and the other for Europe. In the USA I've used Virgin Mobile for over a few years now. Their rates are good, and there are no roaming charges. In Europe, I use a GSM phone with a SIM card. I'm looking to purchasing an unlocked Motorola RAZR GSM that I can use in both the USA and Europe, and to switching to T-Mobile.

Will T-Mobile Prepaid work on that RAZR GSM phone? Do you get a SIM card? What is T-Mobile's coverage compared to Virgin Mobile's, which piggy-backs on Sprint? Are T-Mobile's rates and services similar or better to Virgin Mobile?

T-Mobile prepaid will work in the GSM RAZR — and if you can, I'd recommend buying a SIM on eBay as it's much cheaper than getting it from T-Mobile.

Here in Bay Area, CA T-Mobile and Sprint coverage is comparable, but it varies greatly by location. HowardForums has sections dedicated to US Prepaid providers, you may get more detailed answers there. At any rate, I would suggest going to the Sprint and T-Mobile sites and checking out their coverage maps to get a rough idea about your area.

Also, look over at cellguru for a comparison chart.

T-Mobile will work with the RAZR.........make sure it has 1900 and 850 capabilities for maximum coverage..............T-Mobile is cheaper and is better value........coverage is a little better too
