I borrowed a friends T-Mobile phone. I live in the 2 bar area and get all 6 bars inside my house. Does anyone know why? Does that mean that it could be the opposite too? If I am going somewhere in the 4 bar area, could there be no coverage? I don't understand why it is doing this. Can someone please explain it to me? Thanks! |

I have found the T-Mobile coverage maps to be conservative. I will travel in areas that will show one bar on the map, however my T-Mobile phones that I've used will display full bars for a signal (either four or seven bars, depending on phone model) in the same area. In fact, everywhere I travel in my local area, I receive full bars with T-Mobile.

and "bars" don't mean much....you can only really make a semi-ligitimate compatison with two phones from the same manufacturer. - "5 bars" on a samsung isn't the same as "5 bars" on a motorola.

The only phones I've used with T-Mobile have all been Nokia: 3595, 6010, 6800 and 6101. The 6101 has four bars on both the signal and battery meters, the other three models have seven on both. All four of these models display full bars for signal in my area.

Also, I had someone else take a phone in a 1 bar coverage area and inside the building there were no bars. If there are no bars on the Samsung SGH-C225 can it still make a call? There was not an icon that meant no service so would it still connect and make a call?

You are very very lucky if it connects, and if it does than most likley you will not hear the person very clear and it will probably drop the call afte a few seconds of connection.

yes, it had very very little service and I wouldnt even call it service because when it displays zero bar but doesn't say no-service it still technically has service, but in reallity you can't use it, you can try if you would like.

I was in a 5 bar area with my friends phone and it got 2 or 3 bars but in a 2 bar area it got 6. Also, in a 1 bar area it got 6 outside. It is odd.

So the service that the Samsung C225 gets I should get on the Samsung T319? If I get 6 bars with C225 I should get it on the T319 right?

neh, how many more times do we have to tell you the same thing? Getting a cell phone (prepaid or otherwise) does not need to be this complicated. Regardless of what is posted on this site, you will never know what your service will really be like until you activate it.
