Default Change Phone Number

If I have a pre-paid SIM, can I call T-Mobile customer service and have them change my phone number? Can I only change it to the area code in which my billing address is, or can I have it changed to any area code? Thanks!

Sorry, I should clarify that I want my number changed because I want to go from a 213 area code phone number to a 949 or a 210 area code number.

You can change it to any areacode you want. Just tell them the areacode you want.

You might want to check with them whether you can get a phone number in an area code outside of the greater Los Angeles area. I don't believe you can select an area code outside of your home market (yet).

Since you have a 213 number right now, you have about 12 other area codes to choose from (coming soon is number 13 - the 424 overlay area code for 310).

So you can get a 949 number or 310, 714, 909, 951, 562, 626, 818, 323. Or a number in the 805, 661 or 760 areas that are considered part of Greater LA.

Okay, that sounds reasonable. I was considering the 949 number more seriously anyways. Thanks for all of your help!
