Does T-Mobile specifically use text messaging to notify customers about a new voicemail? I normally use my T-Mo phone for outcalls, so I hadn't received a VM until last night. It was a text message telling me to dial "123" because I have a "new" message waiting. Is this the only way to receive VM notifications?

Yes, that is the normal way T-Mobile dose VM. IMHO they need to change it.

This topic has been discussed at great depth over at Howard Forums. I am part of a very large group who is trying to get this changed. http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...ion+%2Btmobile The folks down in the SE market (Atlanta) who are former Powertel customers still get the MWI tape reel icon because they are on a different VM platform than the rest of the nation. Do your part and let them know you want MWI. Letters, emails and calling. |

I have their T-Mobile To Go service, and do not like receiving one message telling me that I have another (voicemail) message. That makes absolutely no sense!

It makes no sense, because what if you read the Text message telling you of the new voicemail, delete it, but don't have time to listen to your vm cause you're in a meeting or something and then totally forget about your voicemail...this has happened to me a few times while I was a T-Mo customer.

The voicemail icon with how many voicemail messages are waiting, IMHO, is a more graceful way of informing the customer that they have such messages waiting.

So let me get this straight, instead of an MWI icon on your handset's screen you get sent a text message letting you know you have a VM? Does this take away from your bucket of text messages? That makes no sense whatsoever, wouldn't it be easier to just have the VM system send an MWI? The thought that a carrier would do this makes my brain hurt like I've eaten ice cream too fast.

Evidently, there are carriers in Europe that do this as well....

But carriers in Europe also have other options, like sending SMS to the user when they missed a call while they had no service/phone was turned off with the number of the person who called them. |

To get back to the real issue of this thread, the VM notification process I think is not that big of a deal. Yes it would be nice for them to have it set to only have a notification icon like Verizon, Sprint and the others, that gets deleted when you delete the voicemail. Bottom line: Is it annoying...yes, it is a big deal that causes me stress....no. |

Why press three keys (1-2-3) for voicemail when pressing down the 1 key for a few seconds key does the same thing? Less work, same results. | |

The lack of that voicemail indicator is one of the things I do not like about the service, but it's nice to read that the issue is finally being addressed.

Frankly, I thought I would hate the SMS VM notification but I don't really mind it that much. If they go to MWI great, if not, no skin off my nose.

| http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...77#post4169477 Well it looks like the MWI is finally coming to T-Mobile...beginning with a rollout in the Hawaii market on or around Dec. 8 and the rest of the markets to follow with dates TBD. It appears they are converting everyone over to the Comverse platform. |
