    Question Text messaging and email

We have a S-E z520i - a model not sold in the USA, but I did have it working on Cingular last year.

Bought a T-Mobileicon SIM and the phone is now working in the US, my wife has it and I'm able to call her and send her text messages.

I was wondering where the email settings are found for T-Mobileicon and also whether SMS needs to be set up to send. The tech person (and by the way, phone support folks were excellent) said if you can receive a text message you can send one. Sounds logical to me. However, it may have been she was receiving a text message from an email I sent to her number and trying to reply to it. Would that give a "you are not set up to do this" message about parameters?

I'm trying to get everything set up now that the handset is on in the US because it'll be back here next week.

Check the T-Mobileicon device configurator. Select the z520 from the list and it should send the config settings to the phone.

If you can send her text messages then she is set up for text messaging as the support personnel said. The T-Mobileicon device configurator is for MMS & Web access only.

I think you are right, she was hitting reply to a text that you sent from your E-Mail address. See if you can text her from your phone and have her reply. Btw, she should be able to text your E-Mail address also but not hit reply to the one you sent from your E-mail.

Hope I didn't make it more confusing.

Thumbs up Re: Text messaging and email

Thanks folks, I really appreciate the wealth of info on this forum!

Indeed, you and the service lady were right, it had something to do with Skype (Skype send my cell number as callerid but I'll bet it gets messed up internationally) or, T-Mob just doesn't want to answer Skype SMS. For whatever reason, once she just used my international cell number, it worked. Also the first time, I sent her an email and it was delivered as text of course and she tried to answer that. No go, and I understand why that is.

As for the email client, she won't need that so I'll see in August when we return how it works. In fact, I asked for Intl roaming so we'll see if that works as well I'll know the answer in a week.
