I think we need some more towers in Ct, so service comes in a little better, we have too many dead zones and calls are dropped.. not good. |

If you think Sprint needs to build out more in CT, drive up to Vermont where you have to stand on one leg and hold your phone upside down just to send a text message. If you have problems with coverage at home you could get the Airave. You could also get a nice antenna for your phone which might be enough to hold calls through the weak areas. |

The Airave will give you much improved coverage at home. They cost $100, and plug into your Cable, T-1, or DSL connection. It will brodcast a signal that covers about 5,000 square feet. When you are within range or the Airave you should have great call quality because you are providing the coverage. This works with any Sprint CDMA handset. Nextel phones won't be able to use it. Antennas and an adapter will plug into your phone. You can attach an amplifier or amplifier and repeater if you don't want a physical connection to the antenna. The amplifier will help a lot but these cost about $200-$350 for something of decent quality. An antenna is $20-$40. An Airave obviously won't work in a vehicle because it uses your internet connection for the calls. The antennas and amplifiers just improve the existing signal so they are great if you have good signal on your roof but not in your house or you need to get through a spotty area on the road. Here are some useful sites that will provide some more information then you can search for a place to buy the products. The Airave is brought through Sprint. http://www.cyfre.com/ Cell Phone Antennas and Cell Phone Boosters at Wilson Electronics BetaNews | Sprint Airave femtocell launch date surfaces |

Images: 64 | A new antenna would plug into your phone and yes they usually help. They are typically 6-16 inches tall, so it won't help at the grocery store if the service is bad in the back where they keep the frozen food. It would mount to your car or outside your home and attach to your phone.

The coverage seems to be lousy in my house, but you are showing me that the tower on sunnyside is a sprint tower, which I always thought was a AT&T, because when they added that a couple of years ago, cingular came in so much better for my sister, and not me with my Sprint, I have to go outside to get service, which is not good, just a bar or two would help me and I can get rid of my landline, and then I can save money....Thanks for all your info and help, love this site. |

Remember that each carrier has their own azimuth (directional beams), elevation, power output, and frequency. So even if two or more carriers are sharing the same tower/cell site coverage can be quite different.

| That particular site is sprint only, it is just one set of pannels on top of a connecticut light and power transmission tower.
