Default Any way out of Sero plan

My son was on Verizon for years and loved it. The service was great. He was also spending between $95-$175 a month because he was always over his text messaging. I switched him to the Sero plan to save money. He sits at the table constantly complaining because of the service. It will say, "no network connection" or trying to find service or something like that. Text messages don't go through half the time. He's always on the home phone because of the poor connection. I'll call him when he's out and the calls are always breaking up.
The map online says we get "very good service". Totally untrue. I've called a few times to complain without any help at all. They keep saying to reset the phone or pull out the battery. We have more than a year left on this contract. I know most people would love this contract, but he hates it. Thanks for any suggestions.

I would suggest calling Customer Service and complaining, saying that the phone service is unusable the majority of the time. If you have a decent rep they may go ahead and close the line of service without charging the etf however, etf maybe more economical if he's not getting usage out of the phone.

Before you try to cancel the contract I would suggest calling *2 and getting a PRL update. This could be part of the problem.

Also, set the phone to roam only. Sprint will roam off Verizon and other CDMA carriers so if the Sprint network is weak in your area, you can roam all the time. Excessive roaming will get your contract terminated, so if you need to get out of a contract, a couple months of excessive roaming sometimes will cause Sprint to terminate you.

Have you tried switching the device? Sometimes the phone is actually biggest culprit. Just a thought... keep us posted on the progress.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I just showed him the suggestions and he put the phone on roaming, and got 8 bars. He was thrilled. I hope it works. Thanks again.

yeah......M2M is the only thing that doesnt work while roaming but everything else should work as if you were at home......also you might not get EV-DO if Sprint supplies it in your home coverage area......it will proli revert to 1X

I think that is great that you can roam but I just don't see the point if you have to do this all the time. if the company you roam off of works better in the places you go to I would think it would be better to use them. Sorry this is my thought on this.

That's the point though, they want out of the sero contract so they're forcing sprint to cancel them.

Do you pay extra to roam off VZW? I remember Sprint had a $5 option to allow unlimited VZW roaming.

But how long would it take? They could do this two straight years and nothing would ever happen. I say if they want out pay the ETF>

RJB you make good points.

Ive always heard either VZW or ATT in MA are the best options. ive not heard of Sprint being very good.

Even though SERO is cheap, if it doesnt work id pay the ETF and just try to go with someone else.

if you go into most company owned stores and tell them you are considering switching, maybe they will give you a slammin' phone deal to win your business...that will curb some of the remorse of ETF'ing...just a thought

One thing to help for the time being is sell the new phones and get what you can out of them then take that money and apply it to your ETF!!
