Not to bring up an old thread but, I thought I would fill you guys in. I had to terminate my job on 6/16. This is actually the first time where I was severely disappointed that I had to quit a job. The reason being is that I kept on getting very bad headaches. It started the day after I started with Sprint and they would not go away. I had to take pain killers (Excedrin, etc) two or three times a day which is very bad. The first week of work, I was in the store then the second (final) week I was in training. Every day, it was a headache. Sometimes it would start early in the morning other times it would start in the mid afternoon. Depending if I took any Excedrin in the AM or not. I was seriously trying to get through it by changing my mattress, pillows, heat/ice packs for my neck and it would only work for a very short time but, the headaches would return. I was told by a guy at training that it could be the fluorescent lighting that they used. It could be the fact the desks were too low and the chairs SUCKED but they didn't do anything to help me. They also used laptops which made me tilt my head down forever. At the store all that standing killed my feet, lol, I could handle that but, the headaches would start. I finally got fed up. On 6/16, I emailed my trainers and my boss and said, I'm sorry but, I'm done and I told them exactly why...about the headaches, etc. I think they understood, my boss seemed to understand anyway. I did apologize for having to leave so abruptly but, I couldn't give notice only to have to live through another two weeks of headaches. In fact, it took a week for the severe headaches to go away. I had to literally stay home and relax and not do crap the entire time so my body could rest and relax. Like I said, it was really disappointing having to leave but, I couldn't deal with the headaches anymore and I all the painkillers....not good for the liver or stomach. After thinking about it for a while, what I believe happened is this. I tend to get a kind of episodic tension headaches where the headache would start (a mild one) and I would take an Excedrin and it would go away for a while but, come back. The cycle happens over and over again for a few days then it goes away for a long period of time. I think that the episodic tension headache was starting when I started with Sprint but, the stress of work, all the standing, bad seating, bad lightiing caused the headaches to be worse and caused it not to end like normal. I couldn't be away from work long enough for my body to relax to get rid of the headaches all together. So if I hadn't left, the headaches would've continued because of not being able to relax. Of course, I could be all wrong about that but, it seems to fit because the headaches are gone now that I left the job at Sprint. Anyway, that is what happened. My stint at Sprint was short and sweet and would've been a blast if it weren't for the headaches. I realize some of you are like why the long explanation. I say because someone would've asked why I left after two weeks. What I said above is exactly why. LOL |

It looks like, Steve, this wasn't the job for you. Sounds like the headaches were a warning sign. I've been at temp jobs in the past, where I knew something just wasn't right, and after I left, my gut-level sense proved to be right on. In any case. You'll find something else that will work a lot better for you. There ARE jobs out there, regardless of what the media, the feds, or anyone else says. I know this from personal experience. Good luck!

That's unfortunate. Your symptoms sounds a lot like mine after a day at work. But I spend 7 hours walking around the desert in 110+ degree heat.

| LOL, I hate heat. Anyway, yeah, my tension headaches don't show up often. When they do, its mild...just enough to annoy me. I take Excedrin, it goes away for a while but, comes back. This happens a few times over a course of a few days then it goes away completely. In this case, the stress of that kind of work (standing for long periods of time, bad lighting, etc) made the headaches worse. With the fluctuating crazy hours of retail and not having my days off together didn't allow my body to relax long enough to actually get rid of those headaches for good and so they just continued and were in worse form. It was unfortunate, because I had wanted a job in wireless for a long time and then I finally got it but, I had to leave. I just have to find something else.

I am very sorry to hear that you had to give the job up. But a job is never worth risking your health over it.
