Default Hybrid phone

I have a few questions for the Sprint/Nextel Hybrid phone..

1. If you already have Nextel, and a nextel phone, can you just buy a hybrid phone off ebay, and then take your simcard out of your current phone and put in into your newely purchashed hybrid phone. Or?

2. How does roaming work? Is it the same as all the other sprint phones? As in, does it allow for all types of digital roaming? How about analog? Will it roam onto Verizon, alltell, etc like the regular sprint phones do?

3. How about text messaging on the phone? Does it use Sprints text messaging service, or NEXTELS? I hope sprints, because Nextels is extremely slow and unrealiable when it comes to text messaging. I always text message my friend who has t-mobile on my sprint phone, and it's always instant. Although nextel's text messaging doesnt work half the time, and when it does, it's slow and can take hours, or days to recieve.

Default Re: Hybrid phone

The hybrid phones use everything on Sprint CDMA except the walkie talkie function which remains IDEN.

They do not roam on analog or other carrier's networks. Just Sprint CDMA (voice & data) and Nextel IDEN (push to talk).

Default Re: Hybrid phone

you cannot simply put your Nextel SIM into a hybrid phone off of eBay cuz their is an ESN in the hybrid phone that neeeds to be activated..........ESNs are used in Sprint phones and SIMS are used on Nextel ones.......in hybrid phones there are both so that the phone is activated on both networks..........you might have to call Sprint to have them set it up in their system because i think there is some provisioning that needs to be done on the account

i thought you could use digital roaming on the hybrid phones...........i knew none of them were hybrid capable but i thought you could do digital roaming.....???

and larry is correct..........everything is done over the Nextel network except for the walkie-talkie which is done on the Nextel network
