Hello all, I just found this forum and I hope someone here can help me. I just moved my gf to sprint from cingular and transferring her address book is going to be a pita any way you slice it... Buy datapilot for $45 except that her new sanyo scp-8400 is not supported yet... Use os x isync via bluetooth, except it does not support sanyo phones at all... use bitpim to transfer her address book from her old nokia 3120b to the computer, except bitpim does not support either phone... so the only way seems to be to sign up for wireless backup and enter her address book online then sync it to her new phone. Has anyone done this? I also thought of using my thinkpad, but the new phone is not supported by any software that i have found. Thanks!

this (phonebook transfers) is not a "realm" that Sprint supports very well. Wireless backup will work fine, but it costs $2 a month and you cannot import the info to their site or otherwise save it from it. Just one of the downsides with doing business with a US CDMA carrier...... |

Thanks for the reply TKR. You're right about not being able to import into wireless backup. It's better than manually entering into the phone because you can use a full size keyboard and screen, but it's lame nonetheless. Luckily, I figured out a way to do it, which I will briefly outline below and provide more details if needed. This may work with other sanyo or sprint phones that have the backup and restore to flash card functionality. Maybe even with other carriers... 1. export all of your contacts from os x address book into a 2.1 vcard file. 2. format the microsd card in the phone (menu 9-5-3-2) and run the create folder command (menu 9-5-3-3) in the phone. 3. pair the phone to you computer via os x bluetooth preferences. 4. browse the phone using bluetooh file exchange (it's in the utilities folder.) 5. send the vcard to the sd_pim directory. 6. restore the vcard file from the phone's microsd file settings (this will overwrite your phone's address book with your os x address book.) (Menu 9-5-1-5.) (if you use entourage x it will export each contact to a separate vcard so import those into os x address book then use that to export a v2.1 vcard.) (I upgraded to office 2004 so I can use sync services and skip this step.) |

Thanks for the details. I've been struggling with this for 2 weeks. A minor problem though. When I go to restore the phonebook it asks me for a lock code. do you know what that is? i don't remember ever setting one. thanks |

I'm glad someone else found this info useful... since it took me FOUR DAYS to figure it out. I recently discovered that you can use the sony vgp-mca20 expresscard memory card adapter in a macbook pro with the microsd adapter that is included with the scp-8400. It is much quicker than bluetooth and it was free with a friends new vaio laptop. I also discovered that the non-drm itunes aac files will play in the phone from the microsd card... awesome for no useful reason. As to your question... this is from the manual: Tip: If you can’t recall your lock code, try using the last four digits of either your Social Security number or wireless phone number or try 0000 or NATL (6285). If none of these work, call Sprint Customer Service at 1-888-211-4PCS (4727). |

I was able to import all names but no phone numbers are appearing in my phone. The numbers do appear in my MAC address book but somehow, they are not being exported into the vcard. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong and how I can correct this? Thanks in advance.
