They do have a PTT feature for the Sprint CDMA phones/service, I don't think it has been very popular though, just like Cingular's PTT. Here is the latest PTT that Sprint is going to use: http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/sp...for-qchat.html (projected year for QChat) Last edited by Fire14; 10-24-2006 at 6:12 PM. yeah.....the QChat that Fire14 was talking about has to wait until Sprint has finished rolling out the EV-DO Rev A on there network........the reason this QChat will be different is because like the Direct Connect.....there are no servers involved.....unlike the current ReadyLink of Sprint and the PTT of CIngular and VZW........this will be a lot like the Direct Connect which will please the migratin Nextel customers......but until then they are coaxing the migration with the hybrid phones mentioned in Fire14's post EDIT: i just read this post...: http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/sp...n-indiana.html ...and it says that by late 2007 EV-DO Rev A will be completely rolled out EDIT (...again): the QChat will enable Sprint customers to chirp Nextel customers |

From my understanding Cingular's PTT using the Kodiak system is close to Nextel's PTT, the main difference I keep hearing is the inital connection can take a second or 2 vs instantanious, but once connected it's the same speed or faster then Nextel's. I haven't tried it or know anyone with it to confirm this, other then a store rep using it to another store and it connected fast. We may be trialing them for the County & I volunteered to be a tester (any chance to try something for free |

for a year or two but they need to eventually make a choice......Sprin or Nextel......which one do they want to support......and if they have plans to come out with a DC like service to the Sprint network.......and they are making hybrid handsets for the Nextel ppls then they are definitely choosing Sprint......better overall coverage......more advances because its an older technology.....probably a better choice to begin migration as soon as possible......forcing migration after they come out with QChat in all areas would probably be smart

Sprint Nextel releases dual-mode CDMA/iDEN phone Sprint Nextel Corp. has issued its first dual-mode handset for iDEN and CDMA networks—the Motorola Inc. ic502, a ruggedized clamshell with external antenna for $60, with a $40 mail-in rebate and two-year contract. The ic502 provides Nextel’s walkie-talkie services running on the carrier’s iDEN network and voice and data services on its CDMA network, supports e-mail and Web browsing, and is GPS-enabled for E911 emergency location services. Sprint Nextel promised to offer dual-mode CDMA/iDEN phones by the end of the year, a move spurred by Sprint’s acquisition of Nextel. |

Sprint is keeping good on their word as far as everything they promised in the way of phones. In fact they were even early. They promised the RAZR, SLVR and KRZR before the end of the year and made good on it ahead of schedule. Same for the CDMA/IDEN phone. |

Images: 4 | Hopefully keeping their promises will help them financially, I hate to see sprint hurting like this, they have such promise these days.
