outside lcd issues/picture id on A900

possibly im doing something wrong since i just bought the phone but when i apply picutre id's to people and they call me, the outside screen looks messed up. and when i open the phone no picture shows up.

so then i remove the picture id and have them call again and this time the outside lcd shows the default animation which to me shows that the picture id shows on the outside lcd, but maybe im wrong.

does anyone know how to use picture id properly or is my outside lcd truely messed up?
