Default Verizon / national single rate / roaming

There is an area aroung Lake Sam Rayburn in deep southeast Texas that has always had poor coverage, but I did have coverage a year ago. Last weekend I had no coverage in this same location that I have been able to call from in the Past. Between Broaddus and Pineland.

I heard, that Verizon had re-done some of their roaming contracts and may have dropped some areas. Does anyone know anything about this?

What plan are you on right now? What plan were you on years before when you were able to place calls? Was it native Verizon service or Roaming? Digital or Analog?

I have verizon's national single rate plan. No long distance or roaming charges. We only have 150 minutes a month, but that is all we need. We travel a lot so we need a tri-mode phone. We are not new at this. We go back to primco. We use Nokia's 3589.

I was told by one of Verizon's offices that Verizon has dropped some of their roaming partners. I'm just wondering if this is why I can no longer receive or call from some of the deep East Texas locations that I was able to use in the past?

Honestly, I don't know, but I don't think Verizon drops roaming agreements for National Single Rate Plans since you pay so much for them and get so little. Put in a trouble ticket in the meantime; do you know the SID or the name of the carrier that serves the area you were roaming on in TX? Look at the coverage locator and check that location out for the AC2 plans and see if it shows any available coverage.

I took my phone to the Verizon store yesterday for them to check out. They said it needed to be updated by their computer. Took about an hour. They also said the *228 was not enough to update a phone. This was the second phone Verizon sold me that was not propertly updated. No big deal.
