a verizon voice mail question

Kinda an oddball question, but since I live in NC, I thought I'd post it here :-)

I was trying to send a voice message today to somebody else on verizon, went into voicemail chose 2 to record a message, put in my friends voicemail # and got back that it was an unacceptable destination, tried sending a message to my phone and it worked fine...


anybody know why that is?

I think this is a system issue. I was trying to call my boss over the weekend (he uses VZW) and I got the same recording when in the past I never had this issue. I think maybe the system was down at the time. I've called him since and don't get that message anymore...
