Default Suncom to T-Mobile transition reaches another milestone

I sent a video message to my email from my Suncom phone yesterday. Normall, the suffix after my number is mms.suncom.com, but now it reads tmomail.com.

I guess they finally updated the domains. Have they updated the alpha tag yet?

Welp, people who send email text messages from T-Mobile accounts have their email come from tmomail.net

Guess they haven't gotten that far yet. I remeber when Cingular's alpha tag was being updated. It took a while to reach me, but some parts got it faster.

Anyone know how long this may take, or usually takes?

Melissa may be back down here with her T-Mobile phone by December,
hopefully by then the alpha tag would be updated.

I have a T-Mobile phone that still reads "Cingular" when I'm roaming on AT&T. I would guess "SunCom" won't go away until they change the MNC?

Probably not.. When you roam it's usually the operator that's in the firmware table rather than what's sent by the tower. My Fido Canada phone (Nokia 8390) thinks that the only operators in my area are VoiceStream (aka 310-26 nka T-Mobile and USA 41 (aka Cingular nka AT&T.) My Nokia 6010 with T-Mobile NL knows that 310-26 is T-Mobile, but thinks that 310-41 is Cingular. My Nokia 6010 that has an Orange IL SIM in it knows that 310-26 is T-Mobile but thinks that 310-41 is Cingular. It depends on how old your handset is and how recent the firmware is much of the time when you're roaming. The 6010 is a handset that's three years old whereas the 8390 is from back in 2002 I believe. At that time the Cingular MCC/MNC was 310-17 and my Nokia 5190 thinks that's Pacific Bell which later became Cingular. Right now it will show VoiceSream and USA 41 as the operators available. What the operator display reads is different if you're a native customer vs. if you're a roamer on the network. I don't know why that is, but that's the way it seems to be.

When you fully become T-Mobile your handset will eventually say T-Mobile because in all likelihood when T-Mobile takes over the network the MCC/MNC will change from whatever Suncom is now using and a native customer's operator identification will always be the operator's name and not what a roamer would see and what the tower broadcasts.

This morning, I received a voicemail alert on my Suncom phone, asking me to re-program my voicemail. It's apparent I now have T-Mobile voicemail (no "welcome to Suncom" welcome message).
