Default 3G Wireless Technology Comes to Greenville!! 3 Best Picks for Real Estate Pros!!

Some of you have already heard of AT&T spending millions to update their Broadband Network in the Upstate. So what does that mean for us? The bottom line--TIME. Now we can truly be "mobile' and can have all the tools to effectively run our business at remote locations so we can have more time for what matters--our clients. I recommend three wireless devices from AT&T Wireless that are the best:

1) Sierra PC or USB Card--this 3G Broadband Device is the best--just insert it into your laptop and Bam! You are connected to Blazing speed--even in rural places in the upstate. [For coverage inquiries, please email me]

2) AT&T TILT--I highly recommend this new device. I think this is so much better than the I-Phone. The features I like about this device is its 3G / Quad Band capabilities, built-in GPS, WiFi connections, touch screen, an awesome full keypad--it looks like a mini-lap top. The applications are awesome; it has a Windows Mobile 6 OS, Windows office, incredible streaming video and you can install "pocket real estate pro" as a third party solution. The downside is that it does not have inferred to unlock lock boxes via Supra eKey. Aside from that you really should come in and demo this product!

3) Palm Treo750--I own this and love it! Unlike the TILT, the Treo750 has an inferred feature that works perfectly with Supra eKey--Real Estate professionals love this! The features that I like are: Full key pad, touch screen, Windows applications including Windows office, Windows media player, voice dail, speaker phone, multiple email accounts and much more. I love the look and feel of this PDA and so will you.

3G has been in Greenville for years from Alltel, Verizon, and Sprint. In fact for Alltel at least the entire state is 3G.

It seems as if At&t is the last company to add 3G in their markets they serve and/or they have the smallest 3G footprint in their markets

Switch to Alltel

EV-DO all across eastern NC! Only places missing it still are Washington and Grimesland.

Theres a couple of spots Alltel isnt EVDO but odds are people in these places probably wouldnt notice anyways.

Beaver Island is one location. And a new Alltel Build (first ive seen in 2 years) and a couple of others that are having backhaul issues. I would say they have at least 95 percent done which is really impressive. Now the have to catch up all the towers they didnt build due to using the money for upgrades.

i stayed with alltel ten years and the last five years that i was with alltel they did not add any towers in the Greenville area and very few in the eastern part of north Carolina. the service in Greenville area was not all that great after you left NC 11 and just about no service in grimeland or the rual area east of here. i had to buy car phones ( 3 Watt ) to use between black jack and Greenville and i only live ten miles from Bells Fork.

It looks to me like sprint has given up on expanding in the rural areas, here in Upstate SC
I live only 3 miles From I-85, where there is a Sprint tower neat exit 87, and coverage is still bad from them.
Just a few hundred feet on my street, separates great signal from no signal,
So I hope Sprint can get the ball rollin' here in the Upstate of SC.

My uncle is moving near me, just a few houses away, with his Sprint phone, and I've been telling him to go back to Verizon,
or just get Alltel (he had Verizon in Vegas, but ported his number to Sprint)

This map shows my area, with Sprint Coverage, and an AT&T cell tower that Sprint should add antennas to.
Notice how on my street, coverage goes from full to almost zero with just a few hundred feet, it's not too hilly,
but some trees block the (PCS) signal, so only line of sight = good signal

Being near a major interstate, I can't believe how the Sprint signal is bad.

They added one between Hollywood's Crossroads and Chicod in 2004... that one covers that whole area between there and Grimesland. You should get at least 2-3 bars in the house now. They have also added two in Grifton about 2-3 miles apart (one on the Lenoir side, and one on the USCC tower). Several have been added in Greenville itself and they are getting ready to add a bunch in Beaufort County -- that county is getting four or five total more sites between 2007 and 2008.

The best part is almost all of them are EV-DO. It's a great time to be an Alltel customer around here

try AntennaSearch - Search for Cell Towers, Cell Reception, Hidden Antennas and more.
IMO that works great, for searching future & existing towers for up to an 8 mile radius of an address.

Search the FCC site FCC Antenna Registration System (ASR): ASR Home

Once a tower site has been applied for, it will show up there.

ATT offers a totally 3G.

Not a Half and Half.

Last time i checked, they would be the ONLY company offering it on voice and data both

That doesn't mean anything though. 3G standards are really related to data not voice. Not to mention it is a cdma-esque interface their "3G" is going to. CDMA2000 is "technically" considered 3G by many. They could have used EVDV which is both voice and data but there is a lot of story behind that and why they didn't.....

Here is some info...
3G Standards

Look under the 3G standards it is a few scrolls down....

its more of a 2.5 , similar to EDGE. its an improvement on a technology, not a totally new backbone and build out like UMTS/HSDPA

I'm sorry, EVDO is not like EDGE and is not 2.5 G. CDMA2000 and 1xrtt was kind of the backbone.

i know EVDO is a 3G. CDMA is not. that is my arguement.

UMTS/HSPDA is a true 3G. As in it is the Backbone to a 4G and on.

EVDO/CDMA is not a backbone for any other Generations .

Thats my arguement

I see, then yes you could consider 1xrtt 2.5g. CDMA in general however is 3G. In fact it is the most important part of At&t's 3G. GSM is considered 2G and CDMAone is 2G. But EDGE and 1xrtt could be considered 2.5G.......CDMA2000/EVDO and WCDMA/UMTS is 3G. It's semantics (sp?) I guess.

essentially.

the main advantage i see to the ATT 3G setup is that it is a backbone. once ATT goes 4G before everyone else, no one will be talking about CDMA or EVDO.

The thing is I don't see the transition from EVDO to LTE (verizon's plan) being as big of an undertaking as GSM to 3G. Less has to be done, and the speeds won't be as massively different either so you will have people comparing/complaining and as long as they just drop the price a little bit on the EVDO (once 4g is widespread) you will have happy campers still and long enough for your own to make the transition. Anyway it's all speculative, I'm almost more interested in the development of WiMax and where that will go (doesn't look good right now). I really think that eventually all cellular is going to go to voip type data only transmissions. So whether or not voice is supported won't be as much an issue.

i definetly think it will be a wait and see.

but considering that a whole new backbone will have to be built for the jump from EVDO to LTE, i think that it will be just as involved as the 3G jump for ATT. maybe not as bad bc with time and technology changes there is always easier ways to do things, but the slow part is always man hours of doing the hardware/software change over.

But yea it all will be "wait and see"

but considering that a whole new backbone will have to be built for the jump from EVDO to LTE, i think that it will be just as involved as the 3G jump for ATT. maybe not as bad bc with time and technology changes there is always easier ways to do things, but the slow part is always man hours of doing the hardware/software change over.

But yea it all will be "wait and see"
Yeah, remember we are really at he beginning of widespread evdo, rev 0 and rev a. They can "rev" it up (i'm a dork I know) to revision c, etc....almost match the speeds for quite a while....
