Default Cingular Phone Replacement -?

Hello All:
Im a newbie here and this is my first post. Hope someone can help me out.
I have Cingular GSM service here and the reception is NOT that great. I also have a V60g to go with it. However, 3 days back i left it in my rental car and was unable to recover it. My question here is -

I do not like the v60g. I also have insurance on my plan so now i can call and get a replacement. V60g costs 199 and T68 costs 199 too for Cingular. Instead of getting v60g as a replacement, is there anything i can do to get th t68 instead?

What do i tell the insurance guys? Should i just tell them that i had a t68 instead of v60? Do they care?

Would appreciate if someone could give me some feedback.

Well, they know you had a V60. They have a record on that. The reason they replace it with the same phone is so people don't take advantage of an easy way to get rid of a phone they don't like in favor of a different phone (whether it costs more or not). It doesn't hurt to ask and try to construct a deal, but I don't know exactly if it'll work or not.

Not sure how cingular's insurance works but most companies use a 3rd party insurance carrier... kind of like car insurance.

Default Cingular Phone Replacement -?

The reason why i asked was when ic alled them, they said "You have a Nokia 8290" ?
I said no. I had upgraded that with a v60g (through cingular). She then said - ok it will be replaced by a v60g.
I was wondering if i could just tell her that i had a t68i and she would just give me that replacement.

Yes this is a third party insurance. But does cingular care whether what phone they give me? v60g or t68i?
I mean if i just call my insurance company and tell them i had a t68 and they change it in their database, would cingular have any objections saying that i DO not have a registered t68?

They most likely have the phone's IMEI number, which identifies the make and model. Here's an explanation:

Just to throw this out there.... Going from a V60g to a T68 will degrade your quality of service immensely. If you think you had weak reception with the V60, you're gonna be SERIOUSLY ticked when you see what kinda service you get with a T68. In weak signal areas, the T68 is completely inadequate. I've seen it sitting next to a V60 on a couple of occasions and where the V60 showed perfect signal (5 bars), the T68 had a fluctuating 2-3 bars. I was even up in Johnson City at the mall right at a Cingular booth... the T68m showed "no network" while most of the other GSM phones could get at least 2 bars. If you hate your V60 that much, try and get it replaced with something like a 6590i or 3590. The t68 is just a pretty face with nice features in my book; but you use the phone to make calls, so if it can't do that on a consistent basis, it's not worth the money, if you ask me.
