Depends on where you live as to what's the best option for you. Sprint, for example has a $30 plan that has 300 anytime and unlimited N&W. Cingular doesn't give you much for $29.99.. only 250/1000, so I'd suggest staying away from them. T-mobile, for $30, only gives you 300 anytime and unlimited WEEKEND, but no NIGHT mintues. Verizon's plans more or less start at $40 for anything worthwhile. At any rate, it would help us out more if we knew what city & state you were in.

At around $30 a month you are going to get the most features and minutes with a Sprint PCS Plan. Sprint PCS Free & Clear 300 Plan: $30 A Month 300 Anytime Minutes Unlimited Nights & Weekends Nationwide Long Distance Included Voicemail, Caller ID, Call Waiting, and 3 way calling are included. You can also add unlimited PCS to PCS minutes for $5 extra a month or it's free on any plan with a 2 year contract. Sprint PCS |

Just a word of advice, take advantage of the trial period (anywhere from 15-30 days depending on the carrier). Make sure the phone works where you need it to and if it doesn't take it back and try another one. I'll have to agree with Dan that Sprint has a great $30 plan.

Sprint's trial period is 14 days I believe. Some Sprint PCS stores let you take out a demo phone for a couple of days for free to make up your mind before you sign up or not. I know my local Sprint store is currently letting potential customers take out either the LG 1010 or the Sanyo 4900. It's free all you have to do is just show them your drivers license and a major credit card. From my experience this is a great idea and when you take the phone back and decide not to sign up they don't pressure you to sign up anyways. It's free and you might want to call your local store and see if they have that option avaible for you. By the way if your local Sprint store does have a demo phone and you take one out get the Sanyo 4900 if its avaible. It's a bit bulky but frankly its inexpensive and picks up the best signal of any Sprint PCS phone out right now. |

AT&T has 50 minutes more than Sprint's plan: AT&T Digital Advantage $29.99 A Month 350 Anytime Minutes Unlimited Nights & Weekends Nationwide Long Distance Included from your home calling area Voicemail, Caller ID, Call Waiting, and 3 way calling are included. or for $5 more, you can get more minutes and national network: AT&T Wireless National Network $34.99 A Month 500 Anytime Minutes Unlimited Nights & Weekends Nationwide Long Distance Included on the AT&T national network Voicemail, Caller ID, Call Waiting, and 3 way calling are included. Amazon.com has many phones that are free after rebate. |

Keep track of your minutes! I've seen people run up huge bills in no time because they didn't check their minutes. All you have to do is call customer service at least once a week (usually 611). They get you on the overage charges. Also check out the phone in as many places you plan to use it as possible.... |
