I just purchased a Sony-Ericsson T68i using the AT&T GSM service. I have noticed LARGE holes in area that AT&T says have GSM service in their maps. Zip codes 71071 (Sarepta), 71018 (Cotton Valley) all along US 371. In addition I noticed that along Ellerbe Road in Shreveport coverage does NOT exist even though AT&T claims GSM service exists . I called AT&T to advise them of holes in GSM service and they told me until 5 people call to complain about the same areas they are going to do nothing. Seems strange? Does anyone know the status of the coversion of the SunCom markets over to AT&T GSM namely Alexandria south on I-49 and the I-10 run New Orleans to Lake Charles. Right now I really like the T68i, but with AT&T I am leaning towards be negative about their GSM. Am I premature in my feelings and GSM in Louisiana will get better? AT&T is not scheduled to launch GSM in New Orleans until June. You may find a pocket or two where the service is being tested but it will not be up and running until that time.

Also, the T68i is known to have problems with reception so you might want to try another phone and see if it can hold a signal in some of those areas better. I would suggest the Motorola T720 or the Nokia 6310i, both of which have been solid to me!

Any ideas on Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Alexandria, LA GSM ATT roll outs. I was told by ATT in late Feb 2003 for Baton Rouge and Lafayette.
