YES...don't ask how, but i have 3 friends that programmed the sprint network on their v60c's...it's worthless, but it's possible...don't expect the units to function properly because that's one of the main reasons sprint isn't with motorola anymore, the chips aren't as compatible as sanyos or samsungs...but i've seen it done and from my point of view, it's pointless and weird cause you'll still get dropped calls...just go SANYO!!!

Technically it can work with Sprint however the tough part is going to getting a Sprint PRL loaded into your phone, and the next hurdle is getting it activated or switched onto their network...Sprint is kind of funny about what kind of phones they will provision...which is silly, because if they would activate phones from Verizon or elswhere easier it would tend to lower their cost to aquire each customer.

Personally I think Samsung and Sanyo phone just SUCK. I don’t know why everyone thinks that they are great phones. With my life style I need a rugged phone and Sanyo and Samsung are just junk when it comes to that. I have never really had a drooped call problem with my Startac and both my Samsung 8500 and A500 were taken back because they would never get a good signal and they are to hard to hear on. I wish sprint would remember that not everyone needs a “cute” phone in a “neat” color with a “fun” ringer. I want a phone that will work after I drop and not crack and I also need a phone that you don’t get a digitized voice sound when you talk on it and That is compact like the v60 or startac. I have had several Cell phones over the past 12 years and found out if it is not a Motorola they just plain suck.

Now that I am done venting thanks for the info

A PRL is a preffered roaming list, carriers load these into your phones to roam primarily (or in some cases) only with carriers which they have better roaming agreements with. PRL's save wireless companies millions of dollars per year.

And as far as getting them to set-up a different esn on their network, I could probably force it if it meant a decent sale...it's sometimes amazing what can be done for a new customer on a high rate plan...but my powers greatly decrease if it's for someone just wanting to switch phones.....money talks...I guess.

Do I have Power if I am on a corporate rate?

I work for Verizon (We dont have Wireless coverage in our area that’s why we use sprint) and we get a Corporate discount of 10 percent when you have the phone for personal use.

PS how do you know this are you sprint sales person?

I do work for Sprint and I will check with the local office to see if we have the proper cables to get the PRL loaded. If not I do have other means of getting it loaded, I'm not sure if I can program a PRL over the air, but I did sell the V60's at my last company and had access to the proper cables and software for that model. I'll check on it when I get a chance.

while samsungs I agree with you are not rugged I dont understand how you groupl sanyo into that bunch. sanyo phones are IMO more rugged than motorolas. The amount of testimonials from real life customers, real life friends andn online people of the sanyo quality is unreal. A couple people I know dropped their sanyo 4700 2 floors onto concrete- still workin. Customers that have the 4000 series are constantly amazed at how they can abuse the phone and it wont stop tickin. I have saved at least 7-10 deactivations in the last month or so by convincing customers to give the sanyo line a test run on the spcs network b4 the 14 day return period runs out on the phone. and on top of that..........unlike motorolas- sanyo antennas dont break ....who woulda thunk it.

I will admit that the antenna on the startac and the old vedar phones break easy, I have done this several times but my local sprint store has always fixed it for free. On the other hand I have seen 2 Motorola phones drop out of a car window at around 60 mph and still work they just had scratches on them. Motorola started the cell phone business with durability. Back when they had the old Motorola Brick phone they used to promote it by showing you how it could be used to hammer a nail into a 2x4 and not break. All you had was a few very small and minor scratches. My main problem with most all other phones is that I just have a hard time hearing on them, It just seems that I have a difficult time making out what people are saying.

Oh one more reason why I like Motorola phones is that it seems to pick up on a weaker signal better than the Sanyo and Samsung. I have seen tested this side by side and found that it is rare that I ever have to raise the Antenna on my Startac and have to on the samsung most of the time just to get a signal. Now the Sanyo will get a better signal then the Samsung but not as good as the Samsung. And the last reason I hat all other phones is the damn color they make the things in. I want Black just black not silver not blus but black. When I have to wear a suite and look professional I don’t need a damn blue Like the LG 5350 or silver cell phone standing out on my hip. With the Motorola I can can get that lovely shade of black I just love ? . And one more thing as if I haven’t said enough Motorola just makes a good style flip phone. The Buttons on the side can control the whole phone unlike the others that usually just control the buttons.

And this is why I like them so much

SPRINT PLEASE BRING BACK THE MOTO!!!!!!!!

I hate to have to disagree with you on this one but the Motorola digital phones...(any of them on CDMA) do not pick up anywhere near as well as the Sanyo phones or in most cases the Samsung phones.

I myself do prefer the look of the V60...I don't know I just like the stainless steel look...but would not have that phone when I had the chance at my last company because of the poor reception....MOTO needs to go back and re-engineer that puppy.

I have happily spent thousands of dollars on the old analog star-tacs and the first digital starTAC for 800 Mhz that came out...(this one actually had a spot for the old piggy back batteries and had great reception.) however Moto had to take of the piggy back option because of interference... the phone would begin screaming at a high pitch when the piggy back discharged...since that phone I have not tried a MOTO flip phone that had excellent coverage...maybe they can get it worked out....

IS that why Sprint quit selling the Motorola phones?

Or was it because they can just get other phones cheaper??

I have noticed they will sart selling the Nokia phones soon. Maybe this is a sign that they are going to cary phones that customers are asking for. I just seems that if people had the cance to by the v series phones from Sprint they would sale alot of them

WirelessBeachBum,

Since you work for sprint do you know if it is possible to find a new or almost new startac. I was hoping that you may know of one that is just sitting on a shelf in a back room somewhere that is jus collecting dust (i.e. a refurbished or new one that the customer never came in to buy )

Sorry I sell to Businesses mostly and my phones are shipped to the customers from a warehouse... I only see new phones. I do however have a CDMA timeport just sitting on my desk, not used that much, (looks new) I'll sell it for $100...which is less than the price the last one I had sold on ebay.

I really dont like the Timeport very much

I am not sure what Motorola was trying to do with them, The only thing that i saw that changed from the startac is the cosmetic cover

The Multiple Color LED Screen was new also....(I wonder how many people bought that phone just for the nice "color" screen.)
