Question: Roaming-mode Phone Setting Options on Verizon

One of my peeves with Sprint is the inability to set either a digital-only or digital roam mode on their phone offerings. As a result, when in a off network place (like Montreal) that has digital and analog roaing service, the phone eats up the battery in no time, presumably spending half its time futilely looking for Sprint, all the time while sitting in either analog and digital roam, if not swithcing between the two. A digital roam option would preclude this waste of battery.

What phone settings/control do VZW customers have to avoid this type of behaviour?

Not as much as i would like. But at the same time it seems to me that VZW has more Digital roaming than analog roaming in general. Also, if you go up to Canada alot VZW has plans that let you roam up there free.

In areas where digital and analog is available, they usually prefer digital, especially if it's from the same carrier(the PRL is, in most cases, set to D/A)...there is either a setting in the network options or a hidden menu in all, or most, phones which will allow you to set your phone to digital only...correct me if I'm wrong.
