with T-mobile, all you have to do is be a customer in good standing for 3 months and they'll give you the unlock code... Basically, you can just call customer service and they'll ask for the IMEI off the phone and give you your unlock within 3 days, I think. I've heard of some people getting unlock codes for phones sooner than that, I guess it just depends.

...or email simunlock at voicestream dot com with IMEI, account #, and phone # and they'll email you the unlock code. FWIW, they're usually willing to provide unlock codes a bit sooner to people who need phones unlocked because they're traveling outside the US. -SC

Thanks a lot for your information. But i got another question here. If i got the unlock code from them, where should i type in the unlock code. It seems that my phone doesn't have a place to put in the code even if i got it.Thanks

Depends on the phone -- on some you enter a "hidden" key sequence to unlock, on others you will be prompted for the code when you insert a non-T-Mo SIM. -SC

If you call customer service they will get the code for you and walk you through the process on your phone. Becuase of the backlog of requests with me it took one week for them to get the code, but they were really helpful.
