Default Talk me out of this please...

First let me set the backdrop. I am switching to T-Mobile, it's only a matter of when. When I go to T-Mobile I will be using a Nokia 7210. The only question is, when do I switch to t-mobile and how do I procure my 7210?

The following auction offers a 7210 for $349 with a 1 year t-mobile contract. No start up/sim fee on plans $39.95 and higher.

I'd do this today if I weren't concerned about dealing with a 3rd party, out of state dealer. Go ahead, give me your opinions, talk me out of it. The upsides are plain to see (I get the phone approx $100 cheaper with no start up fee for a total savings of $130+). What are the potential downsides/risks? Anyone know/do business with this dealer before? His feedback looks good...

Thank you.

If his feedback's good, that says something. Usually people w/good feedback want to keep it that way and realize that it's more profitable to run an honest business than to screw everyone once and not do business again for some time. I only have a feedback rating of around 30 and I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize it.

Or you could buy the phone outright (locked to VS/TM or unlocked) off eBay for $450 and take it into a T-Mo dealer near you. Sometimes they won't require a contract if you come in with your own phone.

I don't mind the contract, I'd planned on having one anyway. Your suggestion is how I'd planned to do it, however that way costs approx $130 more money ($100 more for the phone and $30 for the sign up/sim fee). We'll see.
