New Orleans is OK; Mobile is rather bad, particularly on the north side of town. VZW has made vast improvements in the other former PrimeCo markets (but they still aren't so hot in parts of the Miami area), so I suspect they'll get around to fixing coverage eventually. -SC

Well i went through Mobile this weekend with my LG 510 phone. I was the anonymous post from above, sorry. Its a PCS network so there are obvious coverage limitations. The only areas I really got to check was down I-65 onto I-10 toward Miss which was ok. The Verizon service ends right at the Mobile/Baldwin county line. Then you start roaming on Alltel. Now the alltel service up I65 is a joke. I was digital on Alltel everywhere in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Once you get into Escambia county your on SID444. Roamer1 is correct this system is a severely overlooked system. When you hit SID 444 there is NO digital service until you get to Evergreen (exit 93). So you have about 50 miles on a major interstate with nothing but analog service. What a joke. Then I turned onto US 84 and traveled east. The digital stayed until about 10 miles east of Evergreen. Then it stayed analog until I reached Andalusia. As far as I know its digital from Andalusia all the way to Dothan, and up US 231 to montgomery. There is a spot between Troy and Enterprise thats analog only, that was traveling up AL167 in north Coffee County. Thats what i saw on my trip this weekend.

Yes Verizon is moving into Lousiana full force. The network is small right now with alot of roaming agreements. In 2003 massive network plans are underway to have optimal coverage throughout LA. We are opening a store in about a month in Lake Charles. 2 new cell sites just went up a couple of days ago. Is LA 1x compatible right now???? Actually the answer is yes! Well.................some of it anyway lol. I-10 from Beaumont Tx to Lake Charles is patchy coverage at the moment......but where there is a Verizon tower at..........it is 1x.............and yes Lake Charles right now is 1x. Lake Charles will actually be condidered in the Houston, TX market. See great things happening soon to East Lousiana in the near future!!
