Looking for step-by-step instructions on setting up the iPaq and T68i to work together using bluetooth, so I can surf the web via gprs. I will come back post the info I have found so far. If someone has done this, please take moment out and share you experience OR confirm what I have already found is exactly correct. It's not working for me. |

Setting up your PocketPC up to use GPRS service go here: http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pock...ystep/gprs.asp For info on doing it with the iPaq3870 specifically look at this forum: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic...=6315&forum=14 I wasn't able to get it working yet, but I only spent about 10min trying. I will post more about both the reception and using the GPRS service with the pocketpc soon. |

Found some more info on connecting ipaq and t68i via bluetooth. First off, the requirements: --iPaq 3870 w/ ROM v. 2.20.21 (mine shipped with 1.5.xxxxx) To check your current ROM version: tap Start > Settings then select the System tab, now start Asset Viewer and tap the + symbol next to Version to display the ROM Revision --Bluetooth Manager 1.1 (mine shipped with 1.0) T68i w/ software release R2B (not sure how to check this) If you don't have the right software versions on your ppc, use the link at the bottom of this post download the upgrader. pdf from compaq about how to set this up http://www.ppcw.net/downloads/T68_3X...on_guide12.pdf download the upgrade for rom version http://www.compaq.com/support/files/...oad/14999.html I haven't upgraded my rom yet, just found this a minute ago. I am at work. I'm gonna upgrade when I get home then I will re-post. |

The instructions in the pdf are accurate. It didn't seem to work at first, but I eventually realized I typed the connection string incorrectly. As soon as the connection string was fixed, worked like a charm. Speed was ok for things that had a version of the site specifically for mobile devices. For real websites, I would not really consider it an option. Sooooo, I'm not sure the ROM upgrade for the iPaq was necessary, but hey, who cares. SIDE NOTE: For the part of the connection string that says "INTERNET" in the pdf's example, that should say "proxy" for AT&T customers. |
