I've had this new phone for a few months now and it is awesome. I thought the T-Mobile deal for 3000 mins. was sweet but this one takes the cake. Right now I'm dropping $69.99/month and talking God knows how long. I'm even able to call my folks in Canada with my plan.......Not only that, but these guys are handing out $10 per referred sign up with them. Hey- I make $110 last month from just telling a few friends. I feel everybody ought to be paying less for the service. Check thesm out & switch carriers. I hated Sprint PCS anyhow. Their web site is www.1wireless.US-HQ.com |

Too bad their coverage is lacking. They don't even give details. look here Looks like they are a conglomeration of tiny carriers "A: No. America One Wireless is only compatible with wireless phones within Cricket, Northcoast, MetroPCS, and Qwest networks. " link

That's funny, some of us thought it would be a good idea for those networks to band together, but this wasn't our idea. We thought MetroPCS, Cricket could just add a roaming option. For now, this is too little coverage from someone I never heard of. Too risky for me!

This is particularly suspect given that, AIUI, Cricket's systems are completely closed and can't talk to other wireless carriers at all... (There have been reports of people roaming on Northcoast, and of course Qwest roams with SPCS and others; I'm not too sure about Metro PCS.) -SC

Just saw a commercial last night from AT&T offering unlimited talk anytime for $99 a month...I'm still within my 14 days of joining Sprint...I might change.

I'm glad that you've had good service with T-Mobile. Unfortunately, I am totally disgusted with their very misleading information about their $69.99 National Family Plan. According to the information on their web site and at their local stores for $69.99 you get service for two phones that will include free T-Mobile to T-Mobile calling, free weekends, 800 Whenever minutes, and unlimited voicemail. The $854 bill I just received yesterday, October 18, 2002, shows they are LYING! Their propaganda clearly states unlimited T-Mobile minutes and shows the National coverage map that includes Memphis (where I live and where I signed up for the plan) and Knoxville (where my daughter attends school) as being in their coverage area. I am being charged for all non-weekend calls between my cell phone and my daughters - definitely not as advertised! After talking with several customer "service" people and getting nowhere, I had to cancel my plan to stop the ridiculous charges. Of course, I was informed that there would be a $200 early termination fee. They will definitely be hearing from my lawyer concerning their "deceptive" (possibly fradulent) actions. Anyone else had a simliar experience with "free" not being "free"? |

Gabby, Though I am not a T-Mobile subscriber, I have seen your complaint (in general terms) levied against all carriers by one un-informed subscriber or another. I admit I am taking a stab in the dark here, but historically what causes the situation you are mentioning is roaming charges. Just because you think you are in a local service area of a particular provider doesn't mean that it is true. I seriously doubt that T-Mobile had any intention of deceptive practices or advertising. Rather than rant, it would be better for you to try to understand the industry so that no matter which carrier you pick next (or if you stay with T-Mobile) you won't have this rude awaking again. -kev |

Gabby, I've been on the family plan for over 2.5 years, and I know about a dozen other people that also use the family plan. Overall, I have not had billing problems, but I hesitate to agree with you that T-Mobile is lying. You got billed incorrectly, it's that simple. Being pissed off about it is OK, but unless you take a calm attitude into your calls to CS, you probably won't get anywhere. I don't know how your call to CS went, but you seem unhappy with it. I experienced the same problems as you are describing a few months ago, in May I think. For whatever reason, all of my calls started being charged overage fees (.40 per minute I think) and if it was out of state an additional .20 per minute. My bill was in excess of $400, and the problems only occurred during the last week of my billing cycle! Needless to say, I didn't like that. However, once I got the bill, a call to CS cleared everything up. It was quite obvious I should not have been charged, and assuming you didn't go over your minutes, you should not have been charged either. I got a credit, and the problem didn't hasn't returned. The only thing I can think of is if you are on an older regional family plan (like I was at one time) you can be charged for out of area calls depending on your region. But they haven't offered that plan in over a year, but if you are an existing customer on an older plan you have to call and change the plan yourself. For instance in my old plan, my calls were free within the Northeast US - calls to Memphis and Knoxville would have cost me...

Read the details on that one. After your contract expires, it's 1500 anytime minutes for the same $99. Also, I believe that plan is GSM only, and ATT has crappy GSM coverage at the moment. | |
