I'm thinking about purchasing the MetroPCS package in Miami, Fl. I believe you purchase a phone and for $35/mth, you receive unlimited airtime. I know it is restricted to Miami and surrounding regions. I'd like to hear from present MetroPCS customers and/or experienced cell phone users...what are the phones like, coverage, long distance plans? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Rubens, I haven't read any comments on Metro PCS in Miami, but some in Atlanta and Sacramento. Those reports indicate it is an OK system. They don't offer fancy phones, their coverage may not even include anywhere outside of town, in-town the network tends to overload with chatty users, especially in the afternoon when school lets out. You pay in advance, LD is NOT included, but is only .05/min. No contract is needed and it would be good for someone who wanted a phone for personal use and won't mind getting bumped off when the system gets more users than it can handle. If you want reliable service consider one of the larger carriers. I could not tolerate not getting calls or getting dropped, which is common with 'unlimited' carriers. Cricket (a similar 'unlimited' system) users use an average of over 1100 minutes per month. If you used that much during off-peak hours you would be better off with a larger carrier. -Bill |

ITs good if you stay close to home and make very few long distance calls. Jack

I just bought a metro pcs phone for San Francisco and can't get any incoming calls from anyone who is going through AT&T Cingular or T-mobil. Has anyone else experienced this. I can get calls from Verizon wireless but they are the ones I'm trying to leave. I have no problem from landline phones. I like the metro pcs service I live in an area which they even say they don't have coverage but my phone works there. The incoming call problem I'm having is one where when someone from one of those wireless carriers calls they get 3 tones and a "call can not be completed" Metro pcs says its the other carriers not recognizing them since they are so new but I spoke to T-mobil and they don't know. I could really appreciate the input since I just got it and want to keep it if this is just an isolated incident that can be resolved. My metro pcs has a 707 area code if that matters. Thanks in advance |

I have had mine for a month no problems, just make sure you do not live by any big towers, that is no good, also do not talk near a computer. But for the money, it is ok, it is better than paying the big corporations
