I have been suffering through AT&T's poor Atlanta service for too long and was about too switch to the Verizon AC plan when I started reading the Buyer Beware warnings about changing coverage on the AC plan. I have been hearing some suggestions that ATT is finally improving coverage in Atlanta, so I wanted to start a thread to see if there was any consensus on that. Frankly, I have not seen much improvement yet. Perhaps my experience would improve if I replaced the old Nokia 6160 I have. Any thoughts? |

AT&T's Atlanta coverage is significantly improved. Check out Roamer1's website...he is the authority on Atlanta and he has actually switched to AT&T as well. (www.roamer1.org/wireless) I am finding through personal experience that AT&T has actually surpassed Cingular...not so much in terms of coverage area but Cingular added a TON of customers throughout the summer...and it has caught up to them in Atlanta...the network can't handle it. If you are looking to replace your phone, I would say look at the 6360. The battery life is great, the reception is good, and you can use your old 6160 accessories (cig. adapter, car kit, etc...) |

I live in Marietta, GA, and have been using AT&T Wireless for quite a while now... I'm on the West Cobb Side of town... The service is OK here ... actually works better than some we've tried in the past. My only complaint (VERY MAJOR -- ENOUGH TO MAKE ME SWITCH TO ANOTHER CARRIER), is that AT&T's roaming agreement with Verizon in South Carolina was terminated two weeks ago (according to their customer service deparment). Since I travel to South Carolina frequently, this is unacceptable to me. I need a phone that I can rely on when travelling, and apparently, Verizon has most of the state there. This is unfortunate, since I liked AT&T's Regional Plan.. But, if I can't use the phone in many areas that I travel in (EVEN THOUGH SERVICE IS AVAILABLE THROUGH VERIZON), then I will need to search for a new wireless carrier. No recent improvement so far for me either . The main reason I have AT&T Wireless is the very good outside Atlanta SE coverage . But now it seems ( if the posts about SC roaming are correct ) this is going away .
