Default wireless in baltimore

I'm a verizon customer all around Maryland and it works great, but the phones don't seem nearly as nice as the ones offered by AT&T. I specifically like the SonyEricsson T68i. However, I am reluctant to switch to AT&T unless I am convinced the coverage is just as good. How is their coverage in Baltimore and DC? Also, what about the eastern shore and Ocean City?

On the Eastern Shore, AT&T, Cingular (and anyone else TDMA) roams on Dobson Cellular One. I can't say how good their coverage is everywhere, but they're good in Ocean City. My only gripes are that Caller ID only worked sometimes on my Cingular phone on their system, and that they have some capacity problems during the summer season that lead to dropped calls and calls that never get through. I suspect that their equipment is a tad old.

In general though, Dobson's system is adequate for the AT&T/Cingular roamers. They both have free (reciprocal) agreements with Dobson anyway, so it's not going to cost you any extra.

I have had AT&T in Maryland for about 15 months and it is very, very good. I have had Cingular and Sprint in the past and AT&T is much better (an huge understatement). I think AT&T allows a 30 day trial period (check into this). I am pretty demanding when it comes to coverage and I am very satisfied. It works all over Baltimore, Howard County, down to Annapolis (all over) very well. Those are the areas that I use it regularly. If you have the extra cash/credit card and they do have the 30 trial period I would recommend giving it a try. Spend the money to keep your old service for the month just in case.

ATT = Horrible coverage Frederick County and west. Verizon will give you the best coverage out of all the carriers...stick with them.
