Hello Everyone.... I'm new to the board and to cells phones in general..lol...! I'm trying to find a phone service that works good in Columbia, SC! I've got Nextel at work but I don't want them as my personal phone (the phone doesn't work when I travel down 26 going to Greenville). Can someone tell me who has the best family/shared minutes, less dropped calls, and service in this area. I also need a phone that I can use when i'm not on the interstate (example Blythwood). I plan to use the phone when I'm at home and when I have to travel with my four month old son. Sometimes I have to go to Union SC. When I take my work phone.... I do NOT have any service!!! What's the use to have a phone with Nextel if you can't use it when your traveling. I've also noticed you guys talkings GSM and etc. I am assuming that is Digital or Analog? Please let me know.. like I said.. I'm new to all of this. Can someone PLEASE help me find my perfect phone?????????? Thanks.... |

I've heard good things about SunCom (Triton PCS) in the Myrtle Beach and Columbia, SC area you might want to check them out. They appear to have quite a bit of coverage in SC and have some good plans out right now such as the new SunCom UnPlan. Check their website for coverage maps, plans, and etc... SunCom (Triton PCS) |

Thank you so much for this post. However, I just found out that the area I live in (Columbia, SC) isn't covered for that plan (which would of been perfect) or any other plan they have. Anyone else have care to share?

Cingular has good digital GSM coverage over the populated areas of South Carolina. For instance, with a Home Plan which covers NC,SC, Eastern TN, and Coastal Georgia you can get 500 rollover anytime minutes, plus 3000 night and weekend minutes for $39.99.

Martysgirl the UnPlan by SunCom is avaible in Columbia, SC. I just checked and that area is on their website. Go to your local SunCom store and see what they have avaible for you. By the way Cingular (GSM) is pretty good in South Carolina so I'm going to agree with cellphoneobsessed you might want to check them out also. |

I also spoke with my new neighbor who is with Suncom. She called me from her phone so I could hear the service.. it was terrible. It sounded like she was in a deep hole (echos and etc), plus she keep fading in and out depending on what part of the house she was in. She is going to call and see if they will consider putting something up out here or she is going to switch phone services. I'm going to write to them PFB. I hope...I can get someones attention and let them know that they need to put a tower up out here ASAP!

Hmm... maybe you should try Cingular then they have good home plans and a 15 day return policy. Cingular Wireless |
