I am moving to Venice Fl. very soon and I am looking for the best Cellular Service in that area. I will be in the Venice to Ft. Myers area most of the time, but occasionaly I will be traveling to the West Palm to Miami areas. Any suggestions?

There really is not a bad choice for service in your area. One exception is Voicestream/ T-Mobile, There is no service from south Sarasota to Naples. AT&T and Alltel (old GTE Wireless) are the A and B carrierrs. There is also Verizon, Cingular, and Sprint. All services except Alltel are on both coasts with home areas. Although Alltel is a partner with Verizon. The only company I hear more than the normal complaints is Sprint, I have never had service with them but their civerage east of I-75 is spotty. AT&T will have the largest owned network on both coasts, Cingular on the east coast (1900 on the west coast), and Alltel on the west coasts (with Verizon 1900 service on the East coast). I would say look for a provider that works well where you need it to work, and the price of the plans. Hope this helps, Jackson |

As far as signal coverage your best choices are Verizon, Cingular and AT&T. When traveling on I-75 from Miami to Naples by the everglades you will see some problems no matter who you choose. Right now, I believe only the 800Mhz carriers have coverage along I-75 from Miami to Naples and even them are spotty in some points. There's no GSM coverage in the Fort Myers area and from south Sarasota to Naples as Jackson said so forget about Voicestream. Nextel has some gaps on the way to Key West. And Sprint does not cover I-75 over the everglades. From the three mentioned above, just pick the one that has the best plan/price for your needs and the phone that you like the best. Good luck.
