I got signed up with Nextel today. I can't give any reports on the phone, because the phone's not been activated yet, phone saying "no service" at the moment. Of course, that would be expected since I was told it takes 24-48 hours to have Nextel phones activated. Anyway, I'll let everyone know how it goes once the phone is activated. |

I went with the Motrolla I85. I liked the look, features, and design. I'm assuming the phone saying no service at the moment is due to it being non-activated, I am supposed to be in a service area. |

Agreed on the i85s (I have one) -- best bang for the buck with Nextel right now. Activation shouldn't usually take more than 2-3 hours but could take longer if "the system" is backed up. -SC

:confused I guess the system must be backed up or something, cause my phone's still not been activated. I've called the store where I got the phone, she's gonna call Nextel and check on things. I REALLY want this to work out. |

I called today, was told the phone had been activated, they said the reason I wasn't getting service was because my home was too far away from a tower. Well, carried it into town tonight, where I KNOW there's service (there's a nextel partners store.) Guess what? NO SERVICE. GRRRRRRR. |

OK...try a master clear (menu -> Settings -> Master Clear -> 000000 -> yes.) This often fixes broken phones. -SC

I appreciate it Roamer, but the menu won't even come up. It'll say "Please wait, connecting" then say "NO SERVICE." This has happened in Warner Robins, where I know there's supposed to be service. I can't do the master clear cause the menu won't come up. |

^ Dump Nextel, they aren't worth all the trouble, no company is. Run while you can! If it's this bad now, I don't take it as a good sign.

I'd suggest calling CS and having them work with you or open a trouble ticket. I'd give you the number to Nextel (Communications) Activation Support but I don't believe they handle Partners markets, as Partners has their own entirely separate CS. -SC

Well, I stayed on the phone for a LONNNGGGG time. It turns out the tower and the phone had never connected with each other. After a long time of holding and talking, I think I finally got the phone to work. I called my grandmother from within my kitchen, she thought I was on a landline phone, it sounded so good. I'm within 10 minutes of the Interestate, so I figured it had to be something. Now though, gotta figure out this Wireless Internet thing, which one do I need to access Yahoo!'s web portal. Thank you everyone for your help. |

I can't access my e-mail with the Nextel phone. I've got my Earthlink account set to check through my Yahoo! mail, but for some reason, I cannot pull up Yahoo's site on the phone. |

What Web plan are you on? If you're on one of the more expensive plans, use WirelessInbox Mobile Email (under Email & More) -- it works MUCH better than forwarding and popping mail from a Yahoo/etc. account, as it accesses your mailbox directly. (VoiceStream/T-Mobile and AT&T also uses WirelessInbox; Verizon doesn't and never has, and their new "MSN by VZW", which ties in with Hotspam^H^H^H^Hmail, is utter crap.) -SC |

Roamer, I signed up for the premium $10 one, because I thought it'd give me access to what I need. The service rep today told me that there was a $7.95 one that had had mobile e-mail, do I need to change plans? Cause when I went to e-mail, I thought I only saw AOL. :::gagging::: |

It turns out I was entering the wrong address. I figured out that Yahoo's wireless address is wap.yahoo.com |

Premium Web doesn't includes the WirelessInbox email service, but the Full Service package (what I have) does. -SC |

I think I've got it now, I had to call back and set up voice mail, I want to figure out how to bookmark the Yahoo! mobile site, but otherwise, I think I've got it. Thank you for your help. |

Under the 'Net section, I think you scroll down to #7, which should say Enter Site. Then you enter the address directly. use the alpha key, then 1 to get the dots. Once you enter the address, and hit ok or connect or whatever, it should take you right to it. By the way, in order to do capitali letters hold down the pound key until the Alpha thing becomes ALPHA.. |
