It depends on what your needs are. The 3000 get more plan is an excellent regional plan that gives you free roaming and LD while within the region (NOT nationwide). It's great if you need all those minutes. Nextel won't come close to that in terms of minutes.

Depends on:
- (first and foremost) how many OUTGOING minutes you need
- whether you need LD on outgoing calls, and if so, if you can live with VS's definition of regional LD or you need national LD
- whether indoor coverage is an issue
- whether you need coverage in Augusta
- whether you plan to use data services, and if so, how much

The indoor coverage issue is one of the variables that concerns me the most. Of course I do like the idea of having shift to a lot of outgoing minutes.

Voicestream did win the JD power award for Atlanta and the 3000 min promo can not be beat. If you NEED ALOT of minutes I would say go with Voicestream.

IMO Nextel's Atlanta coverage is great (second only behind Verizon -- yes, that means "better than Cingular"...)

I have just tried Voicestream because of the great price point on the Get More 3000 SE . Unfortunately for me, their coverage just won't work out - problems in buildings and outside in certain locations that I would use the phone a lot (maybe its the 1900 mhz signal) . For the Voicestream salesmen who frequent this forum - OF course YMMV due to usage requirements and it may be fine for other people . Maybe things will get better as the system matures and the holes get filled in . For this particular situation Nextel appears to be the way to go.

BTW - I have found Roamer1 's comments here and his website to be very helpful .

you have to be in a window when inside buildings.
